Had a lovely day at Snettisham RSPB site. There is a height barrier at the entrance to the car park but there is room to park just outside for about 3 vans. If that is full you can drive down to the Beach Car Park where there is a height barrier but the attendant has a key and will let you in but you must return before he goes home at night, otherwise you are stuck in there.
Its quite a walk round the reserve but it is a lot quieter than the more popular Titchwell, there are about 4 hides on the circular walk, while we were there we saw lots of waders on the Wash: Godwits, Curlew, Redshanks, Turnstones. Oystercatcher, Lapwing etc. There are also lakes just inland where we saw Avocets, Teal, Garganey, Grebes, Egrets, a lovely Golden Plover, Grey Plover, Comorant, Common Terns, various Gulls, Greylag Geese with lovely little green chicks, Goldeneye, Tufted Duck, Wheatear etc etc. I'm sure there were lots of others that we missed. Didn't see any Bitterns unfortunately but a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

glad you had a good time and saw plenty, i'm envious!! Birdwatching was my main pastime when I was younger, I don't think you ever grow out of it, it just goes on the back burner for a while! Since having my own house, i've done all I can to attract wildlife into the garden, with limited success but living so close to the peak district, its easy to get out and see things.
My interest was really re-kindled when I discovered photography. It meant I spent even more time wondering around the peak!!!!!!!!!!

I got my interest from my Dad he was a big birdwatcher, as a boy he used to take me round the local birding areas but as I grew up, discovered a different kind of bird (that's what we used to call girls when I was 16) my interest waned, then marriage, kids etc., working all the hours God sends, it went on the back burner but when our kids grew up and left home we had more time and now enjoy spending the day looking at our feathered friends.
Our son and his wife have now got the bug, he also enjoys photographing them, he takes some lovely photos.
