Hi Rachel. Its all to do with the age of your van. Early Romahomes needed the switch to be in the Car position to charge the 2nd battery, Later vehicles it didn't matter where the switch was. A quick way to find out is to take one of the leads off the 2nd battery, turn a light on, put the switch to caravan position, start the engine, if the light comes on it doesn't matter where the switch goes if it doesn't come on the switch needs to be in the car position. Clear as mud?! Ant

Rachel. As luck would have it your van is on the cusp of the change, I would leave the switch in the Car position when driving and Caravan when camping, that way you'll cover all options. Ant

Hope you don't mind Ant but we have always been a bit unsure whether we are putting our switch in the right position. So can I ask you too? We have the Duo Hylo 2005 and put the rocker switch in the middle when driving. As we are always on ehu never really had to worry if this is right but the day may come when we aren't and might get caught out. Nothing in the manual or other paperwork makes it clear.

Hi Moya. Your 05 Hylo doesn't mind where you put the switch, it will charge the battery in all positions. Ant

I have a '95 Hylo. What switch are you refering to? Mine doesn't have a switch! It seems to charge OK.

Sorry for the delay Mike I missed your post, your Hylo has had a 2nd battery fitted after it was converted by Romahome, it will just charge direct via a relay and requires no action from you. Ant
