OMG! don't use a car wash!!! Or even a power jet thingy! I guarantee the jets from either will force water into your van! I use a bucket or two of warm water with ordinary wash n wax shampoo and a soft cotton mop! That takes care of the general cleaning. For stubborn areas (particularly those black streaks) I use that JML magic eraser stuff from Woolworths. Oh, and I bought a glove thing that fits over your hand from a £1 shop - one side has a bit of a scrub, the other side is soft and loopy microfibres. I haven't used it on the van yet, but it makes short work of cleaning windows in the house! Here's an extra tip (from Scotland, where they find the easiest way to do things): wait until it's going to rain, and put drops of wash n wax on roof and bonnet, then foam up. Wait for the rain to rinse it off! All depends where you live - the rain in the highlands is soft and clean! Not so bad here in Cheshire either, I've washed my car like this a few times! ;D

I also wondered about putting my hylo through a car wash - roof down of course I think it should be OK, anyone tried it. As I am wanting to sell it I want it to look it's beautiful best just in case! I find that living by the sea it gets covered in sand and of course the seagulls love it also.

I agree! Snowdrop generally lives round at my parents but gets covered in green stuff and bird droppings, so I gave it a clean before Glastonbury (our next trip is in a couple of weks, from Sussex to Wiltshire, the Larmar Tree Festival), it took a good 2hrs and I was left with a stripe on the top from front front to back I couldn't reach. I wonder if those £5 a go groups of guys in supermarket car parks would have a go ... I'm supposed to wash the van am I ? I thought thats what rain was for!!! ;D

When you are out and about and no water available, do try the Miracle Dry Car Wash, available at M & S £15 plus other outlets see their website. will wash without water, 7 times, I brought for my son's caravan which is in storage, but it was far too dirty he said to waste it, so it was used on my car, the rain droplets are just big bubbles sitting on top of the car, brilliant product, I also use G10 and a finishing glaze by 3M, as recommended by Ant and a bodyshop, expensive, but a little certainly goes a long way, and most certainly is worth the money.
A quick wash with Fenwicks Caravan cleaner and Dry Bright certainly does the trick as well.
Stay away for 'mer' products, they are useless I found, just my opinion.

I agree with Joan. The miracle dry wash is brilliant. I have used it on the van, on the car and on the boat. In fact when my shampoo and polish runs out in about two washes time, I shall be using the miracle dry all the time.
Think on this. Traditionally you wash, rinse, dry,and polish. Look at all that effort. Since I was ill I have to rest after every stage. Then look at all the water wasted?
With the dry wash you spray a little on, wipe it over with cloth 1 then polish with cloth2, Job done. Effortless and no water.Cloths supplied with kit and they also have wipes for interior of vehicle. WEhen finished a quick wash in soap and water and the cloths are ready to use again.

Ok. But how do I get the 3 million insects that decided to commit suicide on the front of Rhonda to wash off quickly and easily? It usually takes hard work, which ofcourse I love In particular those wee beasties who decided to stay long enough to be baked on by the sun? ;D Sooz.

Once your vehicle has a good clean shine, then they dont adhere as much, and all you need to do it damp wipe after every trip.this is a minute's job. But the miracle dry wash also removes the flies and marks.

Hey, if anyone wants to test the miracle dry wash on something before they use it on their own van, I have a volunteer van just itching to be "miracled". ;D There are dead beasties, bird ******************************* , black marks and all manner of yucky things ready to test the dry wash to the limit...and beyond....... Just let me know when you`ll arrive an` I`ll put the kettle on. ;D He says, hopefully. Haggis
