Hope the summer meet goes well, sorry we can't make it. Have checked our diary's re the carnival in november and it is looking like a definate possibility we'll be able to make it. Just need to make sure the distance isn't too great etc.

Flipping Eck Glen, what sort of job have you got? You seem to be off in your van very frequently. ;D
Have a great time you lucky devils.
Graham (jealous as hell)
P.S. For our southern readers "Flipping Eck" is a term we northerners use to express surprise or consternation. ;D

;D ;D ;D
Ah but we are much more refined round here duck, when I said "north" some people think north is anything past Watford Gap. ;D
So from that point of view you could categorise Nottinghamshire as north.

Flipping Eck Glen, what sort of job have you got? You seem to be off in your van very frequently. ;D Thats the reward we get for the pleasure of working Christmas day, boxing day, easter weekend and every other bank holiday going!!! ;D Having said that, Christmas and new year fall in our annual leave this year, maybe it'll be Christmas dinner in the van!

Hi Marc, we'll be in brighton on tue until sat morning, staying on the caravan club site at sheepcote valley. We are being joined by a couple of friends from wed afternoon. Not really sure what we'll be up to, we generally play it by ear but it would be good to meet up for a cuppa again if we get chance. let us know whens good for you and we'll try to sort something out.

it seems as if everyone is in the same boat ( almost literally!!) with the weather, its bl***y awful down here in brighton! We had a good time at Hastings, the weather was very windy but the site is sheltered so no probs with that, and the showers were frequent and heavy but didn't stop us venturing out. We moved to Brighton yesterday, the weather was good briefly, we set up in the dry and had the afternoon at at pulborough RSPB reserve. At around 5 this morning the rain started and it hasn't stopped yet. It is enough to stop us vernturing out now!! And, to top it all, as we set up yesterday, the metal join on 1 of the awning poles split and is now held together with duct tape!! Time to find the movelite website to source replacements.

Glen, I've got loads of spare poles for the movelite awning as when I bought mine, movelite sent me a new set as I had four missing - so now I have some spares! Send me a private message with which ones/how many you need and your address and I'll post them to you... now where did I put the spare ones??? ;D The weather is appalling, isn't is? I hope it brightens up for you this weekend! The metcheck weather site is down temporarily, so check it out later on: www.metcheck.com

cheers Jayjay, I got in touch with outdoor revolution yesterday and they are sending a new set out to us at the campsite, they are sending them by courier and they should be here tomorrow, fingers crossed!!! With the way the weather has been down here, we really didin't want to rely on duct tape for the next week and a half!! Thanks for the offer anyway! x :-)
The weather has got better today, got the electric train into Brighton and had a walk along the front, fish n chips for lunch obviously! now enjoying a BBQ and a beer in the evening sun!

well we're home safe and sound. What a great trip! Our first time in the south east and i'm sure it won't be our last. Weather got better during the 2nd week, enough sun for us to forget about the rain from the begining of the holiday!! The temporary repair to the awning poles had to last longer than expected, outdoor revolution were brilliant but were let down by the courier service. We finally got the poles on the tue of the 2nd week and we were glad we did, the final site we stayed at was Folkestone C&CC site and being on the cliff top, the wind was strong!! Only other things that went wrong, firstly the exhaust dropped off ( only perished mountings so easy, cheap repair) and the the laptop died.
plenty of walks, a bit of cycling, some retail therapy and lots of relaxation.... what more could we ask for!! THe campervan bug has definatly got us, we are now trying to work out when to 'spend' the 5 free low season nights we've got in stamps in our C&CC passport!!

we are now trying to work out when to 'spend' the 5 free low season nights we've got in stamps in our C&CC passport!! Hi Glen sounds like you had a good time - even if the laptop died and your exhaust dropped off! Always something! ;D At least you had some good weather at last, eh? someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can have all five nights free together - as in book a site for five nights and pay nothing - I 'think' you can only have one night free per booking when you have them to spend - so start spending them! Like I say, I could be wrong, but that's the way it seems to be worded in the little bookie thing! ;D

Hi Marc, glad your getting some use out of your van, better than a tent hey??? especially when you don't have to carry your accomodation at festivals!!
We take the laptop for 2 reasons, we are doing a running diary and site reviews of our trips ( Pauline - we will submit the reviews to the main site if/when we recover the data!). The other reason, we use 3 mobile broadband as a means of getting info of places to visit, cycle paths etc.

Marc We go to festivals in our camper, we took the touring caravan twice but then got a camper for convenience. Its great we love it. We still have our tourer for when we take my daughter and her friend with us as our 'Nipper' only sleeps 2 and a midget/ small child!! I cant tow the caravan anyway so the Nipper is my freedom to go it alone when I feel the need or my OH cant accompany me!!
