Just to make it clear. It is only C15 based romahomes that are a problem. The ones on the Honda, Diahatsu and Suzuki are demountables and ther is no problem with transfer to another truck.
The usual giveaway with the C15 is the old style body that uses part of the van side with a registration from the late 90s onwards. (the design actually changed in 1990/91)

It is only C15 based romahomes that are a problem. For those of us who don't know, can someone say exactly why it is a problem?

Hi Paul, this is a previous reply from Ant of Avon Motor Caravans Hi Peter. There are several companies cutting Romahome bodies off the C15. It was never intended to come off however, and in getting it off you have no choice but to damage the bodies integral structure. I have seen many of these vehicles, all have had complete resprays to cover the repaired damage that occured while the transfer was done, some even had bits of the original C15 still attached where they couldn't get them off! Most have been put onto a younger 600Kg Chassis rather than the intended 765Kg chassis and therefore are not really up to the original design wts and limits as far as loadings go. I, as a dealer will not take the swapped body vehicles in PX as the competance of the swapper is unknown and without that knowledge lives are at risk. Romahome do not condone body swapping for that reason. My advice would be better the devil you know...............! Ant

When we go away we usually end up starting at the M40 and to reach it we always have to pass a lovely bungalow which has a small Autosleeper trooper in the front garden. We have been passing it for last 4 years and have never seen it out and we go away loads of times.
I think we should report it to the society for the prevention of cruelty to campervans as it must need a run sometimes!!!!!!!!

Hi Gwil,
Why don't you go and ask them if its for sale as it appears they don't use it? I would. It may make them think about it.
Welcome to the forum and I hope you get one soon they are great fun.
Martin

I can't bear the thought of an unloved Romahome! Perhaps we should form the RSPCR (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Romahomes)

Good Idea there seem to be a few of them about, but the funy thing is the owners want to keep them. Jest like some dog owners cruel guys , then we have to rescue them
