I bought a 1994 Daihatsu Romahome last weekend ;D as a first campervan experience. I am looking forward to a whole new experience having never camped before. Am now looking for some new sites to visit, hopefully devon, cornwall areas - any recommendations?? Our first experience of driving on a motorway was a bit hair-raising when lorries and coaches passed us at high speed!!

I am sure other folk will be along with some suggestions too, I know what you mean about lorries and coaches passing you its gives quite a buffeting doesn't it?

I have something similar - a Bedford Rascal Romahome! It's the short wheel base x height that makes it so unstable in the winds you get on motorways. After fishtailing (?is that what you call it?) all over the place, I decided the best thing to do was to stay off the motorways and I've never regretted that decision! It's lovely to go at your own pace and not feel hassled by traffic or have to go too fast to keep up or risk being rear-ended.

I hadn't a clue how to get to Scotland without the M6, but I soon found out that the A49/A6 led me straight there without the motorway - major A roads tend to follow the motorways and are much safer for little vans me thinks.

It all depends on how many grey hairs extra you want to have! LOL!! ;D
