Hi Ant Can you help with a radio problem on my 2004 Dimension which is fitted with the standard radio cassette. The radio reception is 90% of the time awful, except when I catch a pothole in the road, when in becomes acceptable until the next pothole when it returns to awful again. I have pulled the head unit out and the aerial connection is good. By disconnecting the aerial and touching the centre contact with a screwdriver I get a good reception again. I suspect the join between the original Citroen aerial lead and the Romahome aerial on the roof. Would you know approximately where to find this connection? I would much rather ask the experts than pull the van apart looking for it. The van has suffered with the problem from new, but my father who owned the van simply took a portable radio with him. Sadly he has passed away, and I am the proud new owner, however it’s driving me nuts. Secondly, I am likely to replace the original radio cassette with a radio CD player, do you have a wiring diagram showing which wires on the head unit go to the speakers etc. I have the article from Practical Motor home July 2005 on the 20 minute cut-out fix, but the wire colour codes don’t match the new head unit I propose to use. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave. I've found the join in various places, In the " A " post, but mainly behind the interior light in the cab head lining. It usually only needs a good earth to get it working well. As for radio wires, my head is so full of useless information I tend to test with a metre that has a buzzer on it to find which wires are speaker, which are earth and live. You should be ok with an 04 but later models mix fibre optics with copper wires for many dash board functions so care is advised. Ant

Dave - you should be able to find an ISO converter lead assy from places like Halfords - it plugs into the existing wiring, and the other end should plug into your new stereo.
This is what I used on my Bongo - dead easy - about £12 ish.
As for the aerial problem - I believe they use an amplified aerial on the Romahome, which needs a 12v source - maybe a bad connection?
