Very pleased to say that as from Friday last, we are now the proud owners of a new outlook SX. Aside from a couple of teething problems. (Very stiff lock on back door) we are really pleased with it. We were wondering if anyone had any tips about rear ventilation for the third passenger. We have the Pullman seat at the back and it does seem quite hot back there! We have had the sun roof fitted and so will make sure the blind is closed on that to keep the heat out. Any other suggestions? (Also on the back door issue too. Maybe a squirt of WD40 may help) Martin & Chrissy

Which part of the lock is stiff is it the key or is it the lever behind the handle?
Our exclusive is 3 months old and we have similar problems. The key barrel goes stiff after rain (I think it could be a design fault as water can collect infront of the key barrel. I lubricated ours with a spray similar to WD40 but it contains PTFE and not silicone.
Our handle can be stiff from the outside but if you push on the door with your left hand and use the handle with your right hand it works. I have had a good look at ours and there appears to be a slight roughness (due to the plating of the metal?) on the housing by the cooker. I am hoping that this will wear smooth with use otherwise I shallattack it with my dremel grinder.

Hi Both I have an Outlook SX, the question you asked as for ventilation for the passengers at the back. I have installed two 12 volt fans with large suckers on the base and you can swivel to any angle. They are supplied from the spare 12v connection in the cab,by an extension cable to each fan. They will only work when the engine is running. I got them from Halfords. Each fan has an off and on switch One is placed behind the front faceing seat by the spot lamp, and the other is stuck to the side wall on the luton compartment. Hope this gives you ideas? Hi All. Regarding the rear door stiffness. There is a reason for the tight fit, firstly if you slacken the fit to ease the opening the door will rattle when travelling, secondly the rain will come in. The stiffness is caused by the rubber door seal being compressed and as Peter has mentioned you need to push the door as you release the handle in order to make opening the door easier. I do not recommend filing any part of the door catch, this has been tried before and results in the door releasing onto the first catch while travelling. ( The vacuum created behind the vehicle when travelling is enough to suck the door open). As far as ventilation in the back goes, why does nobody just put the side window onto its' ventilation position as it was designed to do for travelling? Ant

Ant Well fancy that, I always thought they were only for when you were on site, for night ventilation, and if they were left like that there would be a risk of the window being ripped off by the wind getting under it when travelling. I carefully check all the windows before setting off for that reason! One less job to do now then

Only in heavy rain and road spray conditions is there ever a problem with the windows set on ventilation position, or in heavy trafic in town the smell can be a bit fumey, otherwise you should be able to use them in that posiion without any problems. Ant

Hi all Ref the door lock, the issue we are having is when in the locked position, we turn the key and "sometimes" nothing happens. There's no click or anything. The only way to release it is to climb over the front seat and pull the leaver from the other side of the door. It happened twice at the weekend. Most times it is fine (I'd still say stiff) but manageable. As for the ventilation question, can I ask a silly question? I don't remember this cropping up in our vehicle handover. How far open is ventilation position? I thought there were two positions, one of which is wide open (almost horizontal) and the other opens slanting outwards leaving a gap of a few inches. Are we saying it is safe to drive in the lesser of those two positions or is there another one I've missed! Many thanks to all for the advice Martin & Chrissy

Hi Chrissy and Martin. The ventilation position is the when the window catches are secured in their first slot. The window is barely open at this piont and can still be locked down. Do not drive with the window held purely on the support clicks. Your door lock sounds as if it needs looking at. I have only experienced the new style locks jamming when you unlock them and are a bit too over zealous with the key and turn the lock too far to the left thus pushing the slide up too far inside and jamming it, normally after this you have trouble getting the key in the lock let alone turning it. Your problem sounds like something is not sat quite right inside. Ant

Hi everybody, You learn something new everyday ! Travelling with your side windows ajar, on the safty catch. I will try this on our journey up to North Wales on saturday, if the weather permits. Alan.
