Hi to you all! As you may have gathered from my recent posts, I may have to sell my Romahome as I'm due to move house very soon. The local Housing chaps have found me a very very small bungalow which I think I can deal with! I'm due to go out and look at it, hopefully sometime later today. Have been and looked around the outside and it has a dear little garden, but looks rather small inside - still, it's not that far from parents and children, in the same village, so should be ok in that respect. The only prob is there is only on-road parking - and enough space for one car. so I may have to sell my Romahome There's someone who will have my Daisy in his side garden temporarily, but doesn't want it permanently there, so unless I can find someone who can, it looks like she'll have to go. And as mentioned in another post, secure storage is out of the question, too expensive. I'll keep you updated! Jacki ;D Edited to add: the only way I can think of keeping a romahome is to buy a HYLO or something similar and use it as a main vehicle. Anyone got any other ideas?

Hi JayJay Sorry you are being forced into a move you don't really want and it will be really sad if you have to give up your van. You said you are not far from parents and children, have they got room to store your van? £300 pound for secure storage is rather steep and as you say it will leave you with less money to spend on camping, petrol etc. I hope you get something sorted so you can keep your van and if you have to give it up I hope you will still come on here and say hello and let us know how you are going on, we would miss your cheery posts. Graham

Hi JayJay,
Really sorry to hear your news about selling Daisy, can you not keep her as your main vehicle? for over 4 years my husband and I used our C15 as our only vehicle, no problems with parking, fuel consumption really good at 45mpg +
Only reason I have 2 vehicles is that mine was stolen in Manchester, and my friend died and I brought a brilliant car for £500 but if one had to go it most certainly would be the car, as the vans have dual uses, they give you so much freedom.
Perhaps you could sell Daisy and your car and upgrade your Romahome perhaps to a C15 better driving seat for your back.
Wishing you all the best - Joan

Hello Jayjay,
Sorry to hear about Daisy, she is a van with character (and I don't just mean the driver ;D ) Hope you find a solution, or at least a way to keep camping.

have you tried local caravan storage places??? I think £300 sounds a bit steep, or is that indoors? or are there any local businesses that might rent a parking space to you?? or friendly farmers that might have a bit of space in the corner of their yard/field??

I hope you are able to find a space for Daisy JayJay. It will be so sad if you have to sell her after all the problems you have sorted out for her you must be really fond of her, and she has given you so much pleasure and us - reading about your travels.
Good luck!

Thanks to you all for the words on encouragement! I've been so down about it all, everything seems to overwhelm me at the moment.
Graham, my ex-husband said I can put the van on his lawn for a whiley - but he doesn't want it there forever, so that's a temporary solution.
Lunnie - I was intending to keep her as my main vehicle when I first bought her, however, that idea was soon scuppered as I can't drive her very far in a day - max 100 miles as changing gears and those seats just kill me off with mobility and back probs. So I decided as long as I could afford it, I'd keep both on the road... Yes, the C15 would be the better option simply because of the seats!
Sid - thanks for the kind comments - yes we both have character!! ;D
Glen - that price is for the local caravan storage place! LOL! Friendly farmers is a definate possibility though, plenty of those around here.
Hi to you, Dabs and thanks for your kind comments!
I'm cheered up no end now!
I'm off to view the property this afternoon at 2-45, so I'll let you know.. only seen it from the outside and it does look very small - plus only on-road parking.

Put it on his drive for now, and sure as eggs are eggs something will turn up for you, please keep your options open. Joan Hi Joan - yes methinks that's what I'll do! Have been to see the inside of the bungalow - and it's not too bad, it's not as small as I'd imagined it to be from the outside, although I'll still have to get rid of a lot of my furniture (got too much anyway!) and the windows are small and high up, so it will take some getting used to, bit like living in a cellar, but not quite that bad - I have to stand on tiptoes to see through them, LOL! Serves me right for being a shorty person! It's dry and not damp, that's the main thing - it has a new shower in the bathroom and grab rails and stuff, so that's ok - and a new gas boiler. I asked if they'd put a shed in the garden as all local housing seem to have them as standard (they used to be the coal sheds) but no, they won't. It looks like it's going to cost quite a lot. I will need a fridge and a cooker (built in here and not mine) a shed, carpets, curtain rails (none at all thru the whole house) - and 2 weeks rent up front as well. That's without the cost of actually moving, hiring a van and all that. Still I daresay I'll manage - you do, one way or t'other, don't you! Edited to add: Joan - re your other thread on not being able to see the smilies or use them - if you're just replying via the quick reply link at the bottom of the thread, there'll be no option for smilies - you have to click on the red reply button (where reply/edit/etc all are) then that opens a screen to reply which has smilies above and links to host piccies. You'll still be able to read what others have said in the thread if you scroll down below the bit where you type in your message ;D Look below this message approx ¬¬ here after the 'add poll' link.

If money's a little tight when you move, try posting on your local freecycle for the items you need. Thats what I did, I got a fridge which although it wasn't the best ever, it put me on until I could afford better and is now a beer fridge in the garage!! Good luck with the move jayjay

Thanks for reminding me, Glen! I am a member of the local freecycle group, but I've only ever given things away on it. You never know your luck, do you? and it saves a lot of otherwise perfectly useable items going into landfill, and that can't be bad! ;D

I have some spare curtains, from my mum's as she has just moved and had all new. These were new 6yrs ago from Allied carpets as they matched her carpets.
2 prs 66 x 90" green and gold in block check, not solid colour hard to explain and the same design in Terracota and gold all lined, good heavy curtains that keep out the draughts and heat in.
If they are any use to you, and we just left her cooker and fridge/freezer plus a new pocket sprung 4ft bed in the house!

We've just given a washer away on freecycle, its a good scheme for getting rid of things that are still useable but probably unsellable.
You can also put wanted ads on there if you want something specific rather than waiting to see if one comes up for grabs.
Hope the move goes well JayJay.

Do you think if you keep Daisy at your ex's long enough she could claim squatters rights and stay? Hope you manage to sort something out Jacki as it would be a shame to lose her when you have worked so hard to make her so pretty inside, I felt really cozy when we were sitting inside her. If not then a Hylo as a dual vehicle does sound a good idea. Good luck in finding some goodies on freecycle too, people give some super things away

I think I'll be all right for curtains as I have the ones from here which should fit as the windows are smaller anyway. Got to put up curtain tracks in every room, none at all - urrrggghhhh Like you said, sods law - everyone I have spoken to recently has just let something go that I could have used! ;D However, I do have an undercounter freezer, so I'm going to use my cool box as a fridge until I get one. And I have no end of electrical things to cook on, and also a little butane fuellled 'suitcase' one-ring cooker and 3 tier steamer, so that will sort that prob for a whiley. I get the keys on Friday! Am hoping to move on the 30th and hopefully still be able to go away for a break in Daisy mid September... that's me being very optomistic! LOL! I'm going to take your advice Joan and put it on the Ex's drive for now as you say, somthing will turn up! Pauleen - yes - I'll claim squatters rights for the van! LOL! Can I just say a big thank you to everyone who has replied to this thread, it's cheered me up so much. There's nothing worse than sitting by yourself with seemingly insurmountable problems. A problem shared is definately a problem halved!

Hope your move goes ok Jacki. I am sure things will all work out for you in the end. If you could get enough for your car & Daisy buying a Hylo as an everyday vehicle would be a good option. You would miss being able to go on your travels if you only had the car. Mind you I like Paulines idea of the squatters rights for Daisy.
