Anyone who has tried to get a picture on a tv in Norfolk will understand when I say its almost impossible. But we have now found a gadget called MAGIC WAND and its brilliant. A couple in a tent next to us near Thetford were watching tv (last choir standing) and we were amazed as we had tried every which way with our ariel and I even had Derek standing outside in the rain but no luck. The next day they showed us the magic wand. Very small, 6inch x 5inch approx with a tiny antenna. They paid a fiver for it. We found one on ebay on our return and have it plugged into our bedroon tv which has been standing idle as no ariel. It works perfectly on all channels and we cant wait to get back to Norfolk to try it. Not quite so exciting as camping internet but essential for soap addicts. Penny

Hi Penny/Derek
Does it work with digital? Sounds really good.

We have one and have found it works well. The aerial thingy unplugs and you can use it as a preamp on an external aerial as well. Derek (another one )

We havent used it as digital ariel yet but we are pleased to get a picture at all where we live, its a bad area for tv signals. We moved house in June so not had a lot of chance to do anything yet apart from unpacking etc but we are planning to get away to Dorset soon. Will let you know. We passed on details of the forum to a Romahome couple who were parked in town so maybe we will see them on here soon.

We got one of these from Amazon for £7.99 a while ago and we have been very pleased with it at home when we use it on our TV upstairs but this weekend was the first time we have tried it away from home in the van and I can report that it is very good. We have got a small digital TV with inbuilt Freeview and the aerial worked really well with it, in fact we got the best digital picture we have ever got on our small TV so we are really pleased. It's lovely compact size for the van as well, fits lovely in the glove compartment. All in all we are very pleased with this and its well worth the money. Graham

Think I should get one then! I have a bigger ariel, but it's cumbersome and hard for me to site (being so short), so perhaps this might be easier! and I might just be able to get sm freeview channels! One question befor I buy - do you have to plug it in somewhere? I'm pretty short of plug sockets in my van - battery powered would be better!
