I have gone back to caravans now and have sold the camper. I thank you all on here for your friendliness and I wish you all the best for the future.
Keep on enjoying this great pastime whatever your choice of accomodation. Regards Robin

Hi Robin
Hope you aren't leaving us completely, you can still come on and post about your travels, there are no rules here, you don't have to have a small motorhome, we'll even start a caravan section for you if you like. :-)

I was interested to hear why Robin had made his decision - if he's still around, maybe he'll let us know.
I briefly thought of changing to an Eriba caravan which seemed to be as quirky as a Romahome but decided to stay with the Dimension in the end. And when I looked at it (the Dimension) on site near Brecon over the weekend, I was glad I did - I don't think there are better looking vans around and she does all we need in the habitation area.
Anyway, looking forward to having an update from Robin.
Doug

Sorry for the delay in replying. When I didnt get any response to my message for a few days I thought oops not wanted here anymore. Thankyou for replying. I think small campers are great for travelling all around from site to site but personally I like to set up camp and then see the area by car. After 30plus years with a caravan, plus another 20 years with my parents in a caravan I think you can say I am a caravanner born and bred. Apparently when I was a tiny baby my cot was a drawer in the caravan. (hope it was open) Thankyou for extending a welcome to us whatever our outfits. Regards Robin

Hi Robin
Wecome back to the forum, I hope you stick around and tell some of you "tin tent tugging" friends about us, if only to put one over on Yamaha. ;D
I perfectly understand your reasons for going back to a caravan, its a case of horses for courses, what suits some people is not necessarily what others want.
All the best with your caravan and come back and tell us of your adventures.
Graham

Hi Robin
I too love caravans and always have done. I just know that I could not tow one. I hope you stay in touch through this website as so much of the feed backand information relates to all of us whatever we camp in.

I've just joined having found this forum when I was surfing looking at motorhomes - planning my retirement even though it's 5 years away. I currently have a caravan but have had two motorhomes in the past. I went back to a caravan for a number of reasons: The first motorhome was too small for myself, 2 kids and a dog to be comfortable in. It was a pop top Autosleeper based on a SWB Transit. We traded it for a coachbuilt 6 berth Elddis Autoquest which I found cumbersome for parking, esp. as it didn't have power steering. There were only lap belts in the back and the kids used to wander around whilst we were traveling which I didn't think was very safe, esp. one day on the motorway when daughter and friend went right to the back and the steering suddenly went very light. It was awkward as well if we wanted to go off site with friends - used to end up begging lifts in cars from the caravanners - difficult when there's 3 of you. Otherwise it meant packing away and taking the van which was too big in car parks, wouldn't go under height barriers etc. Having to have a smallish car for my job meant I was running two vehicles. So we went back to a caravan.

It is very difficult to choose, I love all versions of camping. Would love a huge campervan but just not practical for getting around. Would love a caravan if someone else would tow it for me. Decided on the Romahome because we can just scoot around the country stopping off for a day or two in different areas and if we need more room we can add the awning. They each have their pluses and minuses of course.
I do know though that even if i was as rich as Croesus I would still go off camping.

Hey Caz, are you the same Caz from UKCS messageboard? I think so from what you write. Viv, I would also still go camping if I was rich too.

I have a caravan which my other half tows and a campervan which we both drive (and a very large tent whch we havent used for years) but we have the best of both worlds. I love taking off in the Nipper (campervan) but also love my caravan and its better when my daughter and friend come along. I love the freedom my campervan gives me and it looks great forits age as well!!!

Hi All - we have had campers and caravans over the years and Joy of Joy we have just obtained a Romini (GREAT FOR US WRINKLIES). Providing my better half doesn't put everything we have in it, we should still be able to manage for a bit longer yet ! We are going to fit a mains unit and a couple of things for downright decadence and look forward to getting away. We wish you all well and happy camping. Our best regards - Alan, Val & daisy.

Hi Alan and Val
I'm so glad you have got a Romini, I know you have been looking for a while and at last you have found one. They are a pretty rare breed these days and folks who have one tend to want to keep them.
I hope you have many happy years camping in Daisy.
Graham
