Hi Ant,
As you know, there is a 12v socket at the back of the Dimension 2. It comes complete with a little 12v plug.
I've never worked out how to use it. For example, if I wanted to plug our small TV, which can operate from the cigar lighter (ie 12v), would I have to cut the cigar lighter plug off the wire and rewire it to the 12v plug supplied in the Dimension socket? It seems a bit drastic to have to slice of the existing plugs before the rear socket is usable.

Hi Doug Ant is at a show at the moment but if you don't mind I think I might have an answer for you. We have the same socket on our Dimension and we had a 12v extension lead LIKE THIS which we cut at one end to fit the Dimension 12v plug on. So now we plug one end into the Dimension socket and any cigar type plug will fit in the other end. Or better still what about one of THESE?Hope that helps. Graham

Thanks - excellent. I can probably get one of the extensions at Maplins - I'll give it a go.
Presumably, if things are plugged into the standard 12v, cigar lighter-type sockets at the front end of the van, they would be running off (and therefore running down) the vehicle's battery?

As I understand it yes that's right, but plugged in the back it runs of the leisure battery. We got our extension lead from our local caravan shop. Graham

Hi I put a new socket & TV socket the same as the one in the rear in the offside panel where the heater inlet is ie. near the leisure bat. is & connected direct to the bat via . fuse I ran a length of co-ax back to the rear taped to the skirting saves cables all over the floor also gives a free 12v but being that we put the tv on the drivers seat & use the 2 rear seats it makes things easier Cheers Pete

Pete
A good idea - I'll maybe have a go at that (but not yet because we're off to France on Tuesday so I don't want to start any jobs just now).
Talking of the TV socket at the back. Is that connected to anything? Is there a built in aerial of some sort?

Hi Doug I've got the roof top aerial that goes via a pre-amp it was already fitted I think it's made by Strata sometimes I get a good reception but other times no I think there other model is better but it's adustable & means having a short extentsion pole in the van abit more difficult than in a caravan. Cheers Have a good holiday Pete

Not in our van Sid, in fact this weekend we didn't have electric hook up so we watched our small colour TV from the socket at the back of the van, it was on about three and a half hours and ran the leisure battery down till it was flat. You're both right. Originally the rear 12v socket was wired using the Citroen interior van light feed ( vehicle battery), some have been specifically ordered with the feed from the 2nd battery and some have been re-wired by me and others, but be aware that you may be using the vehicle battery as with the cooker light feed which is also from the vehicle battery. Ant Hi Ant, Sorry if I'm a bit slow on the uptake this morning, but do you mean that Romahome used to wire the socket from the vehicle's (starting) battery as standard on Dimensions but no longer do so, or do you mean that Dimensions still have this as standard unless specially specified or subsequently modified by the owner?

Sid. The Dimension 2 socket is wired directly from the 2nd battery ( red wire in line fuse on the battery), upto late 03 early 04 the feed was taken from a Citroen wire at the back which used the 1st battery. Ant
