Shower that is! I went to 3 Counties Show Ground at Malvern to the American Motorhome weekend and the showers were a long way away (at least half a mile) and not very nice. So I thought right try the caravan shower. I was very pleasantly surprised even though its not one of the separate cubicles type, just a loo with a shower and a curtain. The hot water tank lasted for 2 showers. In all my years of caravanning this is a 1st. I would recommend the weekend . It cost about £39 for the camping weekend (Thur night to Monday Morning) and free entertainment every evening. Loads of accessory stalls etc during the day. Plus of course motorhomes (not all big and american) Regards Robin

Well done, my son and his family used their shower whilst we were on holiday at Filey beginning Sept and I was most impressed, loads of hot water, using their loo was more than the usual pleasure, no traipsing across to the loos etc. Great for the children, warm shower and warm bed, no cold travelling inbetween.

Hi Robin I moved this thread to the Caravan section as we don't get a lot in here and we are trying to build it up a bit. We have got a shower/toilet in our Dimension and we used it for the first time this summer and we too were pleasantly surprised, there was ample water and although it was a bit cramped it was certainly better than being smelly as we were on a "no facilities" site. A quick question do touring caravans have heating? I wondered how you go on in winter if you want to camp and haven't got electric hook up. Graham

Thanks Joan, if they can put a gas fire in a caravan, I wonder why they don't put them in motorhomes?
We haven't got heating in our van so when we are on a campsite without electricity we have to pray for warm weather.
I suppose next time we will have to make sure the van has diesel heating before buying. We did ask Ant once about having it fitted to the van but apparently its rather expensive way of doing it.

Hi Graham yes we have mains electric or gas heating. I am amazed that you havent got heating in yours especially with the price of the dimension.

Hi Robin and Lunnie It is an option on new vans but we bought it second hand, it was about 6 months old so they knocked quite a bit of the new price, the original owners had a tow bar fitted and a fiamma awning with a privacy room but didn't see fit to have heating as an option. Knowing what we know now if ever we had a new van it would be the first thing we would ask for. Oh well, we will just have to pay for electric on sites and take the fan heater. The problem we find is that the electric hook ups get booked up very quickly, when we want to go away for a weekend we like to leave it till the last minute to see what the weather is going to do but by that time there are only non electric left and this time of year even if its a nice day its sometimes cold at night.

Try a black cat heater, run off a gas cannister, many use these in tents and tt.

Try a black cat heater, run off a gas cannister, many use these in tents and tt. I've thought about gas heaters but I think they can be a bit dodgy in confined enclosed spaces (like a van). They are described as outdoor heaters for fishing, camping etc. probably OK in a tent but not suitable for a van (or am I being paranoid?). Don't want to wake up dead ;D

in the old days we used to use free standing gas heaters in the caravans. (still got it in case of power cuts at home) They are safe as long as you have ventilation . You dont use them all night though as they obviously are not vented to the outside.

My caravan and campervan have blow out heating, the caravan is duel fuel run but the campervan is gas only. We have a tubular greenhouse heater plugged into the inverter to keep the chill off when we have no electric (in the campervan) I suppose it wont be any good in freezing weather though. What about one of those car heaters/ coolers that you can plug into the ciggarette lighter socket?? or an oil filled mini radiator in an inverter??
