Ant, a question for you. We have a Berlingo Multispace registered in September 2000 1.9 Diesel (had it from new). Yesterday the instrument panel went berserk. The tacho went to maaximum, the fuel gauge went to maximum, the mileometer went to 600000, the service indicator went kaput as did the clock. The speedo and temperature gauge appear to be normals as do all the warning lights. Have you seen this before? can you make any suggestions before I try an autoelectrician or even (shock horror) our local Citroen Agent. Thanks Peter

Hi Peter. I've had some minor spooks with the Berlingo dash, but nothing on the scale you've had. I'm affraid the only real answer is to get it plugged into a diagnostic machine, some ordinary garages have machines that can tell you whats wrong in most cases but may not be able to reset the readings, only a Citroen Machine may work for that. Having said that a 2000 Berlingo is relatively simple by todays standards so a ordinary diagnostic machine may do the job. Either way you're into a fee for the plugging in and then perhaps a charge for the remedy. If you have the radio code you could try disconnecting the battery overnight, sometimes the ecu resets itself when it gets re-energised. Ant

Most of our problems are now sorted with the fitting of a new instrument cluster at almost £350. Mileage still reads 600000 and does not move. Citroen dealer says that they cannot reset this as it could be construed as clocking.

I do all my own repairs and maintenance and in 8 years and 90000 miles it is the first time that we have had to spend other than for routine items. (I did have to sit in a darkened room and consume several glasses of wine.) It is still on its original clutch and we did tow a caravan for about 5 years. It is still one of the best cars that have owned.
