Inspired by Wendy's post, I've collected some pics from our trip which finished last Sunday. Setting off from Dover in mid-September, we went via Calais to Mereuil sur Ay in the Champagne region and stayed on the Aire which is in the town square on the canal - very pretty. From there we went south to Baume-les-Dames and then on to Annecy. Here the sun came out but it was very cold at night or when a cloud flitted across. Four nights on site and then we decided to head south for more warmth. After a trip-breaking stop near Crest we pressed on to a name which we picked more or less at random from the map: Aigues-Mortes. This turned out to be a charming, walled town on a canal and within a few miles of the sea. After a couple of nights in the Aire we moved to a site near Port Camargue. They were charging 11€ per night with electricity and, although it was a huge site of about 2000 pitches, it was virtually empty. We settled down there for 10 days of cycling, swimming in the sea and lazing. The on to Trebes near Carcassonne. Trebes was a nice little town (if you ignored the outskirts) with a canal-side Aire but Carcassone was a disappointment. By now it was time to start heading back which we did via Vierzon and Cleres, just north of Rouen. We didn't use toll roads much on this trip so we saw a lot of France that we would normally whizz past. A great holiday and we are now planning a Paris-only visit ASAP. Hi Doug Yours too sounds a lovely trip, I'm jealous of all you folk who can go for more than two weeks at a time. I don't want to wish my life away but I'm looking forward to retirement so we can please ourselves. I can't access your pictures without a password. But look forward to seeing them. Graham

Graham Try this link: s61.photobucket.com/albums/h69/CannonOlympus01/France%2008/it doesn't go directly to the slideshow version but that's easy enough to get into. Retired? ! I'm not retired but I'm trying to work out ways of working whilst away in the van. For a few weeks, I can function with just my laptop so this trip included testing the efficacy (that's a good word - I hope I spelled it correctly ;D) of using a mobile broadband connection. Once Vodafone recognised that I was "roaming" (why didn't they tell me that this would have to be activated when I rang them to check on such things BEFORE I went away ) it worked great - faster than in the UK. I was limited to using it to when we had electric hook-up because my laptop battery is rubbish but if I get a DC/AC inverter, I should be able to use it plugged into the 12v socket in the van which would make it much more flexible. There's one on offer at Maplins at the moment so I think I'll give it a try. Doug

Nope - that link still requires a password.
Glad you had a great holiday, Doug - I can well imagine it gets cold at night without some form of heating.
Looking forward to seeing those pics!!

OK - it appears I have a Guest password. First I knew of it. It's:
Sensational
Can someone let me know if that works?

Retired? ! I'm not retired but I'm trying to work out ways of working whilst away in the van. Working while away in the van, hmmm, perhaps we could take the little darlings we look after away with us. On second thoughts no, perhaps not, can't imagine 5 children in a Dimension. ;D I've tried "snobby" and "snobbyafghan" for passwords and they don't work. It's no good Doug you'll have to give us your password, and while your at it can we have your bank details too. ;D Graham

Just tried "sensational" that doesn't work either, back to the drawing board. Edit: Hang on, just tried Sensational with a capital S, that works. Great pictures, good to see you using your Movelite. We went to Annecy a few years ago and thought it was lovely, though very busy in May, dread to think what it would be like in August, did you find it busy? Graham
