Yup, Winnie Ewing has been advocating RETs for years and years. Cal Mac already price Romahomes as though cars on most, if not all routes. Doesn't make the weather any better when you get there... Effie

Hi All,
These cheaper ferry fares have been on the cards for some time, and Scottish politicians mostly want it, but we'll wait and see. By the way, managed to get almost 3 weeks off work at end of August/ begining of September and did a brilliant tour in Rhonda. We included sailing on favourite lochs and a trip on the 'harry potter' steam train across the west highlands. It was great although the weather for most of the time was not so good. Rhonda kept us safe and dry however and ran like a dream despite the many miles. Have also had some great weekends away when I could get time off work. Hope to take Rhonda to the outer hebrides soon if the ferry price drops.
Would love to show you all the fab photos of our trip but unfortunately I don't have a digital camera lol.
Sooz.

Despite the dodgy weather the scenery is fantastic in Scotland and as I live just over the border this could entice me to tour the isles.

To anyone wanting to go to the Western Isles, GO FOR IT! I did, in May this year and have been trying (computer packed up, dvd drive packed up, program refused to work... eventually successful though) to make a slide show of my trip which I eventually have done. I finished it last week and a shortened edition will shortly be on the net as a flash slide show, when I get around to it! I went in May, only had one day of rain in 3 weeks. Since making the slide show, I just want to go back there! ;D On the way to Ullapool and the ferry Co-driver & mate Duncan on Horgebost Beach, Harris

The winds are quite strong (and cold) in the Hebredes, so you need good tent pegs! Have a good Christmas yourself, Dave, nice to meet you! ;D
