I've recently purchased a Daihatsu Hi Jet Romahome, However i've now discovered the head gasket needs replacing, Can anyone help with mechanics/garages in or round Exeter and the possible cost? I also need a replacement skylight, Again decent stockists and how difficult to fix/replace........and finally, Is it possible to repaint a fibreglass romahome shell? I once saw one on the motorway in red and as i'm needing to repair several small dinks and cracks would be interested in colouring it afterwards. Hope you are able to help save 'Harvey' and thanks for the forum! ;D

Hi.
I can't answer your question, but just wanted to say hi because I've also just bought a Daihatsu demountable and live near Exeter. Maybe see you on the road (when you get it fixed). Good luck.

Hi Kristian. I can sort your roof vent here but I'd not advise driving the vehicle from Exeter to Bristol with a head gasket blowing. The risk of warping the head is not worth it. If its a diesel you may need to talk to a main dealer as we've had trouble with obtaining parts to complete a job here where the head needed replacing due to a hair line crack being detected during a crack test. My advice would be find a local garage and talk to them about the possible costs and out come of a head gasket replacement, be prepared for either a skimming charge, crack test charge or replacement head. In my experience the heads are quite fragile and don't take kindly to being overheated. Ant
