Hi Ant

I have just acquired a second hand Zig unit DCU-3 that I would like to fit.

What I would like to know is, does this unit have an integral charge regulator fitted, or do I need to fit an external one. if so what type.

The unit is (or should I say was when new) regulated. I have to say tho' not knowing why its available second hand I would bench test it before fitting it into the van. Connect it to a half charged battery with an amp metre in the negative lead, note the amp reading ( about 3 or 4 amps) come back to it the next day, if its still taking the 3 or 4 amps its' regulator is suspect. Also check it doesn't boil the electrolyte in the battery too violently.
