:)Hi, Here's my next question:- does any body know where to get the grill bars that hold the spare tyre on the front from. I saw one on the tely and I would like one as we keep the spare tyre in the back when travelling and put it underneath when we stop and its not very handy cause it makes my little kitchen floor dirty and we can't have a dirty floor in my little Suzi, we also have to lift in and out when we are at home and sometimes I have forgotten to put it back in whe I am out and about. Hi Prue, What type of vechicle do you have? I have the old bull bars off my old bedford rascal, was hoping it would go on my diahatsu. I liked the look! But unfortunately it didn't fit! Sunshine1 Ellie

Going slightly off the question here, the main thing that puts me off the R40 is the lack of a spare wheel. We go go to many parts of the UK where there are no mobile signals within miles, and we carry two different phones. I may not want to change a wheel, but at least I want the choice if the tyre is ruined or has a hole in the side wall that gunge cannot fix or (as tyre manufacturers will tell you), should not be fixed.
As for travelling on the Continent. A couple of years ago I had to get a car tyre in France, a major tyre company held such small stock that I had to go back the next day. I shudder to think how long I could be stuck half way up a mountain pass waiting for a motorhome tyre to be sourced.
So no van goes on my shortlist if it doesn't have that heavy, but essential, lump of steel and rubber located somewhere safe.

its probably a good job it didn't fit sunshine1, we were strngly advised against putting bullbars/spare tyre on the front of our hijet because hijets have a tendancy to overheat and the bullbars would reduce the airflow through the front grill. I do agree though, the spare wheel mounted on the front does look good111
