Please can anyone help us with their experience?
We have the latest shape Dimension 2 and wonder if it is easy and / or cheap to alter headlight dipping for France.
We did hear a rumour it was not so simple as just masking as on the Dimension 1 models.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike
Nice to see you on here again, sorry I can't answer your question being a humble dimension 1 owner but I know we have other Dimension II owners on here.
Come on can somebody help Mike?

Hi Mike . After much head scratching and muttering my local Citroen dealers has found that the headlights are set straight ahead and therefore don't need altering or masking for European use. Ant

Dipping the headlights OK, but has anyone looked to changing a bulb on the latest Dimension?
Front nearside, perhaps just possible with a thin, double jointed wrist.
Front offside, half the engine seems to need removing before you can even touch the back of the bulbholders, let alone grip them for removal.
Rear lights, some-one has put a bathroom in the way one side and a fridge in the way the other side.
Come on Mr Romahome, please tell me how to do it, perhaps I am missing something?

Hi Barry. The Headlight bulb removal can be done quite easily on the off side by removing the foam dividing sheet that lies between the PAS fluid tank and the header tank. You can then get your hand behind the light. The two rear lights have a hatch provided by Romahome on each side between the back of the shower unit and the rear corner on the off side and the end of the fridge / draining board unit and the corner on the near side. You just need to put your hand in and you can reach the light unit. Quite simple really! Ant

Hi Mike . After much head scratching and muttering my local Citroen dealers has found that the headlights are set straight ahead and therefore don't need altering or masking for European use. Ant Standing at the magazine display in Sainsburys reading Practical Motorhome magazine the other day (waiting for the missus to finish the shopping) I noticed something about this in relation to a Fiat/Peugot based m'home, telling the reader to fix the masks onto a plastic headlight protector shield and not onto the glass itself. As I believe that the Citroen shares the same headlight configuration, I am now confused.

Thank you to everyone, especially Ant, for obtaining an opinion that Relay 2 headlamps dip straight down and therefore do not need masking. I too had heard the story about investing in £50 covers and masking them to save the headlamps crazing.
I thought I'd contact the horses mouth, Citroen UK, and they confirmed what Ant's dealer had discovered: you don't need to mask them. I asked for this in writing to produce if questioned and it has just arrived: ============================== File 3717357/Case 1281992
Further to our conversation dated 7 April 2009 I can confirm that there is no legal requirement to mask your headlamps for use on the continent. The only stipulation is that the headlamps do not dazzle oncoming drivers and this applies equally to driving here in the UK as to abroad.
Drivers should have the headlamp adjustment checked before travelling. If still concerned, they could at this time have the height of the headlamp beam set to a lower position. This would reduce the possibility of dazzling even further. It must not be forgotten that any such adjustment would impair the visibility provided by the headlamps at night. Just as with masked headlamps, modifying the headlamp adjustment will reduce the effectiveness and, therefore, driving speeds must always be adapted to take this into account.
In closing, I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Yours sincerely CITROËN UK LIMITED
