DH and I became the very proud owners of a C15 about a month ago. We are pathetically excited about our purchase, and have already 'tested' our new baby on a couple of outings, having much fun in the process.
Our only issue is that we are both over 6' tall and find the bed very slightly short. I know some of the motorhomes have an bed extension that can be put up, but ours doesn't.
Can anyone either post a pic of the bed extension and how it works, to give DH some idea of how to go about making one, or does anyone have any other ideas we could perhaps filch as to how to make the bed 6 inches longer.

Hi Batgirl. How old is your C15? The early ones ( upto about 1990) had the bed extension fixed on a hinge behind the cab seats and you just had to lift it up and secure it with two bolts. The later type was free range and was basically just a trimmed length of plywood with shaped ends that fitted into the moulding behind each cab seat below the seat belt mounting. You just moved the cab seats forward and lay the extension on the end of the bed with its ends snug in the moulded bit. Provided the rear edge fits the bed and the ends are shaped to fit you can make the width of the board to suit your needs. Ant

Hi Ant
Thanks for the reply. It's a later model - we bought it 2nd hand and the extra bit for the bed wasn't in the van and we had no clue how it worked. I'll get DH to check this out as he's always got scraps of wood lying around so I'm sure he'll be able to 'fettle summat'.

Graham, my family roots are from Northumberland where strange goings on like "mashing tea" was still in the family vocab' and my Father had a favourite fettling knife which turned out to be his pen knife! So be carefull what you say around a soft southerner he might just be pretending. Ant

Gah - what have I started ................. Speaking as a soft southerner with northern parents, a half Irish husband and years in Australia to fall back on (talk about Heinz 57 varieties) you should hear some of the vernacular that gets spouted round here. Anyway, DH spent the Easter weekend looking at the bed lengtheing issue, and has indeed got it sorted using the moulding and some wood scraps. Off to Wales next week so it will be well tried and tested by the time we get back. thanks for the advice.
