We've made the decision this afternoon to buy a new Dimension...It's a lot of money so we are now feeling excitement and anxiety in almost equal measures.

Hi Doug
We know the feeling well but I am sure, like us, you won't regret your purchase. Welcome to the ever growing band of Dimension owners, when do you expect delivery? Bet you can't wait to get out in it.

Well done - you won't regret it. They are incredibly well designed little vehicles and we absolutely love ours. Everybody who looks inside is impressed that there seems so much space in such a small van. The storage capacity is incredible - much more than in lots of bigger vans.
Hope that you don't have to wait too long for it.

Hi Doug
Well done. We are on our second Dimension, having had the first one four years. As soon as we saw the new version in last November's show, that was it! We took delivery in May and are really, really pleased.
How long will you have to wait? Ask away if you have any questions.

Doug Just had a thought - if you want to come and see our new Dimension you are very welcome. In the light of our experience with Dimension 1 we specified a few modifications, which you might be interested in. We ordered ours from Ant, and consider ourselves so lucky to live within striking distance. Many we know come to the area and camp overnight to be able to visit him. He is so helpful, fair and knowledgeable.

Thanks for the inspiring remarks, folks. We are scheduled to pick it up on 16th August. We are having a tow-bar fitted so we can use it for work as well as pleasure.
Mike and Heather. Maybe you could post an outline of your modes here - I'm interested to hear a word or two founded on experience.

Mike and Heather. Maybe you could post an outline of your mods here - I'm interested to hear a word or two founded on experience. Doug Hi Doug Our mods include: We have had a power point fitted on the off side to avoid trailing flexes (next to the charger switch). We tend to have the offside rear seat down as a bench seat and asked Romahome to make sure we could lift the trap door with the bench in place. So much more convenient than a full width trap door, so much so that one or two Dimension 1 owners who have seen it are thinking of doing their own modification here. We have another 12v socket in front of the battery compartment so that we can run the inverter off the leisure battery. We have a shorter metal table leg and a metal tripod so that our small table can be positioned flexibly. We also specified an extra rail high up in the shower room to match the lower one, so useful for hanging towels and restraining items. Improvements to the first Dimension that we really appreciate: The sliding door to the shower/toilet is a big improvement and makes the rear of the van feel a lot more spacious. The door being open enables elbows to be accommodated when Heather and I are both moving around. The wet room really is that - non leaky and no clingy curtains. The shower head is high, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the toilet was not too wet after showers. The smaller wash basin we find adequate and the water drains with a quick satisfying glug, glug! It all depended in version 1! The new 2.2 engine is excellent, refined and pulls well. Economical too, as there is a computer readout of mpg, and we get between 36 -40 on a journey going at 60-65 mph. The storage space is larger as the van is taller. The overhead lockers have even more room. The two front seats are longer and give more upper leg support. The foam is firmer and the bed is a bit hard, so you may need an overlay. The doors are sealed better - no drafts - and of course there is air con when (or if) needed. The spotlights are better positioned for reading. The cab cassette blinds are quite versatile and can be quickly pulled across on site in part in the daytime for shading (assuming sunshine) or more privacy. Thats a start - I may have forgotten some! We are very pleased. Mike and Heather

Mike and Heather Excellent; thanks. I've printed that off for a closer look. We'd already decided that a matress overlay would be required so that's one to tick off The van we are buying is from a dealer's stock so we can't get Romahome to make modifications - it's too late for that. However, if I fancy adopting any of your ideas, I'll have a word with the dealer to see if he can do them. How about "ends" for the awning? Have you considerd that? I'm just wondering if it would be a good idea to close at least one end off to make the area encompassed by the awning more sheltered, particularly if staying in one place for a day or two. Doug

We have never got much use out of our first van's awning, but are considering it now after seeing Wendy and John's idea of strapping it down. We have always been very cautious of a sudden wind and the potential to damage the van.
Haven't thought of ends - have you a source in mind?

Hi Doug,
Well done, excellent choice! I would say that - we collected ours 2 weeks ago! We compared a 2-year-old Dimension side by side with the Dimension II on the forecourt before deciding and the only thing I would add to what "mike and heather" said about the New Dimension is a very small minus - I'm not too keen on the side front window blinds, because I find the thick frame creates a difficult blind spot at roundabouts and junctions. I think I'd have preferred to keep the pop-on curtains that were on the previou model. Other than that - and an annoying squeek when on the road, I think from the back doors and, which I hope to get sorted by the dealer in a couple of weks time - I'm very happy indeed. It's a well designed vehicle, and I have yet to meet or hear of a Romahome owner (or even ex-owner) who thinks they made a bad choice.

Although we no longer have our Dimension, I thought I would add the following suggestion:- We had the overlays but still found that they didnt get rid of all the bumps so I purchased two 'self inflating' mats and used these as well, made all the difference. These can be purchased from camping shops, and do not take up too much room. We also had a light weight utilty tent to put chairs etc in when we left the site. Hope you enjoy your new purchase, we certainly enjoyed owning ours, just our circumstances have changed. I do still enjoy reading this site.
