So there I was putting my polar screen on the van while we are here at Teversal C&CC site, when a voice behind me says "Hello fellow Romahomer" and there stood a chap I had never seen before. He had just arrived in a Romahome Hylo, then he says "Do you ever get on the internet on that Small Motorhome Forum", so I says "yes I do I'm Graham and this is Pauline" and blow me down we had bumped into Roger aka AggsandRog.
We have never met anyone on site who we have spoke to on the forum before except at meets, it was lovely to meet him in the flesh and we had a good old chin wag. He's touring and hasn't got internet with him so he won't be on to confirm this meeting but it was great to see him and we are looking forward to catching up at the meet in May.

Graham:
How exciting to meet up like that. What a surprise!
Lunnie:
Hope you are having a lovely time over there. Maybe you could drive there next time, we could all go in convoy! Ferry across the water and off we go!

Hi Graham Very envious of you being at Teversal. Great site with very energetic young couple running it, and they do seem to run a lot! Local produce and a fantastic walk up to the Miners monument, and beyond. Wish we were there.
PS Did you not have your Small Motorhome badge on the van for Roger to see?

Hi Niloc We are back now, as you say it is a great site with the poshest toilets we've ever seen on a campsite and the young couple running it are an absolute delight, so helpful and really friendly people. We had two lovely walks, yes and we went up to the Miners monument. We'll definitely be going back to the campsite as it is very local for us, we left Friday at 5.30 and were sitting having a glass of wine on site at 6.10pm. We had our sticker in the van but Roger didn't see it he just came to chat because we had a Romahome, when he mentioned the forum we were thrilled. Graham

Hi there.... I got back home yesterday by way of Boroughbridge, Haltwhistle (Hadrian's Wall country), Dunstan Hill (Holy Island) and Woodhall Spa. That may seem a strange way to go from Nottingham to Ipswich, unless you are a Romahomer of course. Having returned my daughter to Nottingham Uni, I was over-nighting at Teversal (not for the first time) with the excuse and a 10 day pass to continue in a northerly direction. I have mentioned the forum to fellow Roma-homers in the last few months, but with no takers. Imagine my surprise when on this occasion the reply was 'I am Graham and this is Pauline'. It was like chatting to old friends even though we had not met before. The power of the forum! Looking forward to seeing you both again at kiwidave's newbies meet next week. I am planning to continue in a westerly direction from there if I can get another pass! .... Roger.

Sounds like you've had a nice long break Roger, it seems ages to us since we "bumped" into you.
Look forward to seeing you again next week.

Hi Not worth starting another subject so thought I would continue on this one.
I see that Roger has been up to Durston Hill I'm going up there in June for 4days was hoping too catch the bus to Berwick maybe If he reads this he could give any info. on the area etc. I'm also stopping at Bellingham for a few days then onto Keswick, Barnard Castle, & Bourghbridge. I've been too the last 3 sites before but not the first 2.
The new CC & C site Dartmoor, Barley Meadow, is a good site facilities are abit tight but the owners have only just taken it over so there is still alot of work too do.
Graham; you also mention polar screens for your Dimesion are they single panels? I bought a wrap round screen which is rather bulky which takes up quite abit of stowage space I have looked for the same type as I had with the Outlook Duo. Cheers Pete

Hi Pete.... Sorry but I cannot help with buses to Berwick. I cycled South from Dunstan Hill on my first day, and North on my third. Seahouses is a nice enough town, complete with harbour, lifeboat, and the best fish and chips in the world. It was a busy sunny Sunday when I was there. And it sports a co-op. Shops are thin on the ground other than there and Alnwick. There is a nice sand-dune walk from Low Newton-by-the-sea on NT land, with a bird hide overlooking a pond. The path goes through to Embleton by the golf course, and may be walkable for you from the site. On the middle day I (for the first time) drove off site to Holy Island. Didn't fancy the A1 on the bike. Get a tide table on line for safe crossing times as the causeway floods twice a day with the tide. There is a pay and display on the island just before the village of Lindisfarne, but there are a number of parking places by the sand dunes once you have driven across the floody bit, and you could walk and take the sea air. Needless to say, I cycled. I passed Bellingham club site on the trip, and very nice it looked. Cannot say the same about Beadnell, so you have wisely opted for Dunstan Hill. Have a look at Kielder forest drive on Tourist Information. I missed it this trip, but it looks good. And if you are a NT member, Cragside House at Rothbury is well worth a visit. Enjoy.... Roger.

Cheers Pete Hi Pete Our polar screen is made by Fiamma and its a wrap round, similar to the silver screen ones only not as expensive, we bought it at the Newark Motorhome Show it was £25, we don't find them too big it just folds up into a small square bag measuring about 18" x 18", a lot smaller than silver screens but probably not quite as good. Hi Pete, I was at Dunstan Hill last year,my 3rd. visit. There is a very good fish and chip van visits the site and although I am not much of a fish eater the haddock was wonderful. Roger mentioned that Cragside is worth a visit and I 2nd that its a great place.probably my favourite National Trust property. (I am not a member though) Also worth visiting is Bamburgh with its castle and Grace Darling Museum. Alnick and its castle are a must for me too. The coast is wonderful I love it.
