Hi,
we need 2 new handbrake cables for our 1998 Hytop C15 Romahome. Our local garage says that the ones fitted are not standard C15 van cables, as the outer sheath on the new ones supplied is too short. He has rung around the local motor factors and they all quote the same part number, so it looks as if a non standard cable has been fitted from new. The 2 sorts have equal length inners, its just that the Romahome type needs to have alonger outer cable than the standard van type. Can anyone shed any light on what cables we need and where to get them please? many thanks, Debs

When we had our C15 I replaced the handbrake cables and they were the standard van ones. I don't see that being a Romahome should make any difference because they are on the van part of the vehicle, but ask Ant just in case

Hi Debs. I too use standard C15 van handbrake cables, having said that I have had a problem with some of them seemingly too short, with those I just re-routed the cable run to the underside of the trailing arm and cable tied it up. I'm sure the problematical ones were much older than yours tho'. Try asking a Citroen dealer for the part number for your particular vehicle, you'll need the "RP" number which is painted on the off side susspension tower under the bonnet, (normally in black or yellow paint and is something like 5278 just 4 digits). armed with the correct Citroen part number you can get your factor to cross reference it. Ah thats great, thanks for all your help I have spoken to the main dealer parts dept. and they have confirmed there is more than one type of cable, depending on whether the original vehicle was supplied to Romahome as a van or a chassis cab. They can identify which one we need from the chassis number as Ant suggests above. Many thanks debs

Hi,
re: romahome hightop C15 1994....
I just had to replace my nearside handbrake cable as it had seized solid. I had problems with local dealers trying to locate the correct part.
After a call to ANT he suggested contacting GSF Car Parts. I rang GSF and ordered a handbrake cable for a C15. The part arrived 3 days later and I fitted it in about 2 hours. I routed it under the rear suspension arm and it worked just fine. The GSF number for the cable is N73144. There is also a part number on the invoice 4745N6. Cost was £11.50 inc.P+P which is less than 1/2 price quoted by the Citroen dealer !
Regards and thanks to ANT for his invaluable help and guidance. Scotty.
