Hi Lanky. The R40, as with all newly developed Romahomes, is slowly evolving via customer feed back and Brian Bailey actually using one for several weeks. The 2009 layout is the same as original however the lower double bed make up has been made easier and less effort is required by removing the timber back boards in the cushions. Also the comfort has been improved with thicker cushions and small back rest cushions for use when the settee configuration is set up. All the tanks etc under the vehicle have been moved forward to lighten the back end ( these were all changed on the 08 models also). Also the tables have been made lighter with a view to improving the "Spare mass capacity". There is now a choice of electrial system inside, the traditional Romahome type with zig panel ( simple easy to understand and standard) or the Amperor system for the more "techie" customer that has all sorts of other functions and information about charge rates and power consumption. Lastly there is another range of trim colours including what already exists. I've seen the latest mods on the R40 that Brian is using as he tours the country and visits his dealers, I must say it felt much more comfortable to just lounge about in than the previous model. Thanks Ant

Hi Ant, Thanks for that information. I must admit that we found the making up of the lower beds to be awkward/difficult. Also we felt that a long back rest type cushion in the bench seat configuration would have been nice.
Is it possible for people who have bought an early R40 to get any of these updates done under the 1 years warranty?
Also in one of the reviews it was suggested that Romahome might provide driver and passenger seat covers to match the rest of the trim.
Thanks again! Lanky

Hi Lanky. I doubt the updates would be treated as a warranty issue as the original set up was not faulty, just a little less simple. I've no doubt the latest set up will continue to change as more feed back comes in. I try not to bother Romahome with my warranty problems prefering to sort the customer out myself, ( that way I know how they've been treated) it would however be out of my control if specific alterations are required. I think the R40 works well in its original form and any updates are mearly comfort tweeks. Ant

Hi Lanky We are seriously thinking of getting an R40 and you are the first person on this forum that has one , as far as I know. Are you considering coming to the 'meet' in Oxford in two weeks time? Real life experience of the van would be a great draw to a number of people I would think.

Hi Colin, We are picking our R40 up on 1st May. We have been thinking of buying one for sometime and have looked and played with the layouts of a couple of demonstration models.
Unfortunately we won't be able to meet up at the Oxford event. Maybe one of the others! Cheers Lanky
