Hi Graham or Pauline - I'm teetering on placing an order for an R10 and thought I'd search your forum for any info. Problem is when I place 'R10 solo' in your search, it tells me that there are too few numerals/letters to effect a search. Can you swing me in the right direction??
Muchas gracias, Jacquie

Hi Jacquie
I've had one for almost a month and will answer any questions you might have (if I can) used it for the first time over night last saturday up near Holy Island. I had no problems at all. But my advice is to be well organised. I have a thread running titled motorhome novice.
Bye for now. Geordie

I also have two smallish dogs to think about. I'm looking at the Sensodrive auto transmission and the Propex option. Just talked to Freeborn and they aren't terribly flex on price. We start getting pretty close to an R20 price with a few options added on. I'll check out your thread and may come back with a couple of questions. Cheers and I hope you are happy with your new toy! Hi Jacquie The search function is a bit of a pain if there are too few letters not much we can do about it really, hopefully they will change it in the next update. There is a thread from a while ago HERE if that helps. For first hand experience Geordie is the man to talk to. Graham

Thanks Graham - it's nice to hear what others are thinking. According to Freeborn, the R10s are selling beyond expectations. I want the auto-box and it looks like at least a three-month wait. Think I want a try b4 u buy though... I wonder if the revamped R20 (new Berlingo chassis) will have auto transmission option. I think I would wait for that.
Cheers, Jacquie

Hi Jacquie, Listening to you, and weighing up the fact you are downsizing PLUS you have 2 smallish dog I am wondering really if the R20 would be really a better solution. I do not yet own a motorhome but having looked at the vehicles the R10 seems to be a definite one wo/man solution. It is a beautiful little vehicle and of course you can pitch a awning I suppose for your charges but with the R20 life would be just easier if you did not want to faff with an awning. Just an opinion...both vehicles beautifully designed and made.

Incidently I read a fabulous account about the R10 in one of the camping magazines, can't remember which one. Somebody who was a keen follower of motor rallying who also took his mate. The mate was going to camp but the weather was monsoon like so he was in a hotel instead .... but they really enjoyed the R10.

Hi Jacquie I would also suggest a larger model. I have a westie and was hoping he would settle in the passenger footwell ( too small ) or maybe between the galley and bed ( a little narrow ). He was quite happy on the drivers seat. A word on delivery forcasts from romahome. I ordered a basic petrol version with no options early feb and was told D/F should be mid april. At the end of feb was told that D/F had slipped to mid july, because " they had recd a batch of Nemo's without a side sliding door". I eventually accepted a higher spec ex demo.

Thanks for all that guys - yup, I'm having second, third and fourth thoughts. I had an Outlook for a couple of years and now have a Trigano Tribute. I was after the excellent economy of the Nemo and am fixated on an auto transmission so I can share with a mate who only has an automatic license. HOWEVER, after ringing around to a couple more dealers, I can see problems with any exotic specs for the next year or so. As for the dogs, it does sound like a squeeze. And will there be enough room for their wardrobes and jewelery? ;D ;D I'll be patient and see what they do with the new Berlingo chassis. Cheers for the advice! Jacquie

Hi this is my first post to the forum although I have been a member for some time. I purchased an R10 from Freeborn in May it was delivered in a pretty bad state, the main problem was the bodywork it needs a total new respray, I am in contact with Freeborn at present and will keep members informed as to the outcome.

Hi Rimmer That sounds a bad show if its a new van. I am sure Freeborn will sort your problem out, they have a pretty good reputation to uphold. Keep us informed. Graham

Thanks Graham Yes I hope it can be resolved, but I really dont want a resprayed van as it will effect the resale value should we ever want to sell, there are other problems with it too. I will keep you informed. Rimmer

Hi Graham Re my new scratched R10, I requested a full refund as advised by the Consumer advice/ trading standards, I have now received my money back, the deal has cost me approx £500 due to car hire, cancelled ferry, cancelled motor insurance ( I got £30 back from £168) gaz bottle hook upl etc as they do not come with the new van, and the van never left my garage except the journey going to my local dealer to get the cost of a respray, which I refused, they flatly refused to compensate me for these losses even though I was not to blame for the condition the van was delivered to me, so I have learned a very expensive lesson, an outlay of £21.500 for nearly 2 months and never used the vehicle. I wish I had gone for a second hand roma home! I may well get in touch with Ant when we are over our trauma.

Hi Rimmer
What a shame your experience with the new R10 was so traumatic, what a sad story that you should be out of pocket to the tune of £500 through no fault of your own.
I can't believe the insurance company only gave you £38 back from £168! That is shocking.
As you say when you are over your trauma and the dust has settled I hope you find a nice van and have some lovely relaxing holidays.
Graham

Thank you Graham, we are retired so cannot really afford the loss....but thats life. Re the insurance it was a £50 cancellation free plus 2 months insurance reduction for the 2 months it was in our garage, I didnt mention we sold our car cheap to make way for our camper so we wouldnt have two vehicles to pay out for!!!!! so now we have an inferior car to the one we sold..............................but must carry on no-one died did they!
