Hi Ant,
Just a quickie, is it easy to remove the fridge from a demountable unit? I need to get some cabels behind it and just am unsure about the gas conection to the flue?
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave. There were 3 main ways the fridges were fitted on the demountables. 1, there was an aluminium stip down each side of the fridge, screwed on. Un screw it and pull the fridge out. 2, "L" shaped brackets were fitted to the underside of the grill which screwed to the top of the fridge. Remove the cooker/grill to gain access to the brackets, 3. Under the front upper grill of the fridge (where fitted) were two small tab brackets at each side of the fridge. In most cases the fridges were plumbed with a flexible "Lunken" gas hose which allowed the fridge to be removed without disturbing the gas system. The exhaust flue normally comes adrift as you pull the fridge out but you may need to use a long srewdriver or stick to just encourage it to let go. When you refit it you must make sure the flue goes back into the outer vent, I normally remove the outer vent and check the fridge flue is in position correctly. It's worth remembering that if you want to die in your Romahome leaving the fridge to exhaust into the van is quite a good way of doing it! Lastly the "Lunken" hose I mentioned should be replaced every 5 years ( it should be date stamped), nobody ever does, but you risk the lunken perishing inside and then leaking gas. While nobody has died from a gas leak, it does go off with a reasonably loud bang when it reaches the flame of the fridge. If you replace the Lunken with a small coil of solid copper pipe you can still move the fridge but never need to replace the copper pipe. Ant
