I have a C15 Hylo and am looking for a good quality awning to replace the excellent, but heavy and hard to erect Harrison we have been using for the past few years. At the Roma Club AGM recently my wife and I looked hard at a Khyam Rigi-Dome awning in use on a Duo-Hylo parked nearby. It was really nice and we think would fit the bill admirably. Stupidly I did not note the model and nor did I note the names of the owners. Looking at various websites I think it must have been the Excelsior because of the door height. Does anyone here have experience with these awnings and have advice to offer?

Hello Mike J Although we no longer have our Hylo, having changed to a Mazda Bongo camper, I can thoroughly recommend the Khyam awnings. We have the Motordome Classic, bought a couple of years ago from eBay for £200 - and we're delighted with it. Although certainly not a cheap awning, they really are childs play to erect - I can certainly manage single-handed to have it erected (but not pegged down) in about 5 minutes flat - like opening a large umbrella, really. Loads of space inside - in fact we have kept our quad bike inside at night, together with table and loo, etc We were lucky with ours - had only been erected once, so bargains are out there - suggest keeping an eye on eBay. Thanks for that Mike. I really liked the Khyam I saw, and that's what I intend to buy.

Hi Mike. We were at the AGM rally and had our Khyam awning up but it was on our Outlook. Several people looked at it and it caused some interest when putting up or down. I did not think there was another on site, so it may have been ours. I think the Motordome is the only drivaway awning Khyam make. It goes onto one bag and is half the size and weight of our old Harrison awning. It flaps a little more in the wind being nylon and will not be quite as warm at night as a canvas one, but all in all, we would not go back.
