Hi John
Welcome to the forum.
I think last time we spoke to Ant he said it doesn't make any difference to the charging of the battery, we keep ours in the middle so its off, then put it on caravan when we are on site.
Hopefully Ant will be able to confirm this.
Graham

Hi John. Graham is right, on the Duo it makes no difference where the Zig switch is for charging from the engine. Your post is headed Zig X7, this is purely for charging from the mains via the switch and black box under the passengers seat, this charges the 2nd battery directly without the need to involve the zig panel. Just leave everything mains opperated on, that way when you plug in everything just comes on! Ant

Similarly for the 2000 C15 Hylo, Ant? Leave the switch on the side of the Zig transformer on all the time, and the alternator will charge the leisure battery when ever the engine is running (even with the first zig panel switch in the central/off position).
On EHU, the fridge switch and the 13 amp socket both become live, and the isolating switch will start the mains supply charging the leisure battery.
Now my understanding so far as the control panel is concerned, is that the first switch enables you to check the status of the leisure battery by switching to caravan, and has no bearing on the other 3 switches (pump, lights, and aux which is the 12 volt socket in the caravan). What I cannot work out, though, is what the first switch does in the car position. Does it give the leisure battery status with the engine running? Which will presumably be a higher reading than when in the caravan position?
.... Roger

Roger. The Zig transformer is purely a mains appliance, it has not part to play in the charging of the battery via the engine. Yes leave the switch on so the battery gets a charge when you plug the van in. The zig panel switch switched to the car position shows you the condition of the car battery and if you were to turn the lights etc on with it in that position you would be using the car battery not the 2nd battery. With the engine running both batteries are being charged ( with that age of C15) regardless of the switch position and when you choose either the car or caravan position it shows the condition of that battery. With the engine going they will read pretty much the same, if they don't you're not getting a charge from the alternator to the 2nd battery, check fuses etc. Ant
