We have a Romahome Hylo and think we need a silver screen for the hot summer which is forecast.
Please can anyone tell me the best place to get one and also what type to buy? (I understand there are various types)
Many thanks,
Judith

Hi we have an insulted external screen from silver screens for our berlingo, keeps us cool in summer and warm in winter. We had a similar one for our C15. www.silverscreens.co.ukThis company www.taylormade-window-covers.co.uk/also make them. Both make good products and people have had good and poor service from both

Hi, I bought a genuine external insulted silver screen from A dealer on ebay , second hand much cheaper than new, and its fine. ebay is always worth a look for this kind of thing.

We used a genuine Silver Screen on our Berlingo HyLo for two seasons and rate it as brilliant. Most useful for cold weather camping as it eliminates condensation on the inside of the cab windows. Also by fitting the screen, privacy is gained for the whole van so there is no need to draw the curtains between the cab and living space. This makes the van seem so much more roomy! This was brought home to us last summer on one site in Cornwall, the wind was so strong that the Screen was threatening to tear itself away and was making so much noise flapping on the windscreen and side windows that we took it in for its own safety. We then had to draw the cab curtains. The roof had already been lowered as it had been rocking the van. The resulting reduced living space was somewhat claustrophobic for the two days that gale lasted.
The downside of the external screen is packing away a wet Silver Screen in the morning before it has had a chance to dry off.
Our current Dimension is fitted with internal blinds and they are nowhere near as good for insulation.
Silver Screens are a "good thing".

External Silver Screens(preferably insulated) are the bees' knees! As Peter Holden has said 'warm in winter, cool in summer' and absolutely no condensation on the inside of the windscreen. Not cheap, but worth every penny in our opinion. We have one with a drop down front section so we can see out without removing the whole thing.
