about the weather! When ever is it going to get warm? ?? I'm going away next week with a friend - but I've hired a cottage for us - near to Bala in Wales. I couldn't find anywhere to stay at first (my friend is a bit iffy about camping as she was rained out last year in a tent - her eyes go wide and scary when you mention camping!)) so I thought we'd have to take Daisy. Found a good camp site near to Bala but when we added up the prices it turned out that we would have been paying only a bit less to camp than to hire the cottage! Hire of cottage £150 = £75 each for the week. Camping at Peny y Bont site was £21 pr night = £73.50 each Now it's a nice site, don't get me wrong, but when you can hire a cottage for that it makes a mockery. Here's the site - note the price of EHU per night, plus awning+dog! And that's the low season prices, so I won;t be going later in the season! Prices have just shot up for everything this year.... moan moan.... weather....moan moan.... www.penybont-bala.co.uk/

Hi Jayjay,
Hope you are feeling a bit more positive today! The weather is getting better and I am sure you will have a lovely time when you get away.
I agree that the cost of a pitch is getting rather expensive in some places but there are still sites that are nice and reasonable particularly the CLs and CSs.
Go and enjoy yourself sounds like a bargain for the cottage and the campsite does seem expensive.
We decided to go away on Friday morning to North Yorkshire and phoned at least 6 CLS or CSs before we found on with a vacancy for Friday and Saturday. Not so much of a problem on the Sunday night and following nights. Will avoid going on a Friday anywhere again! We paid £12 at one site and £9 at the other both with hook up and basic, adequate and clean facilities.
