Ant, Just a short note to let you know that we had a broken front offside suspension spring whilst in Belgium. The Citroen garage said that there was a bad batch of these produced and that ours was one of them.(we have an Outlook based on the 2.0 HDI engine). We had to go to France, very gently, as the delivery time in Benelux was 3 weeks. New springs were fitted at a Renault garage ,recommended by the insurance,in Gravelines. The same problem exists in other Citroen models and in the Renault Twingo. (The Citroen garage said that the spring only broke while the vehicle was stationary and this was the case with us.) Another problem, which may be of interest to other Outlook owners, was we had two severed wires(earth and neutral) in the connector plug on the side of the van. It took me some time to diagnose this as we got a connection at some campsites and not at others. I had to dismantle the plug and try to pull enough cable through to reconnect the wires. Romahome didn't leave much spare cable to do this and it took some time to pull the wire through. I hope this will help van owners who may have similar problems in the future. Jim Connachan

Hi Jim. I've had quite a few broken springs in the last few years, Citroen recalled many vans to have spring gaurds fitted to protect the tyre in the event of a spring failure. The problem is not all springs under the chassis numbers in the list of potential weak springs are actually effected. Manufacturers have to err on the safe side which can spook more people than is needed. Ant
