I used to have a 1988 Honda Acty Romahome. I sold the pick-up but the buyer didn't want the Romahome.
Would it be possible to convert this to a small Romini type caravan by mounting it on a steel chassis with towbar. (There are a couple of firms around that build custom trailers mostly for farmers and its possible that they could build a frame to take the Romahome body). The space under the luton overhang could be sheeted in to make a storage cupboard or if this made the frame too long the luton could hang over the towbar.
Has anybody tried this or could indicate possible pitfalls.?
Or are there any vehicles with more CCs than an Acty or Rascal or Daihatsu that I could fit the old body on.

Hi Jack! That's a very interesting idea! I was wondering myself if there were any other speedier pickups about. There's plenty of pickups on Ebay, just knowing if the body will fit - methinks we need Ant here! I also thought about doing the same thing with a trailer, I love my romahome, just would prefer it I didn't have to tax and insure it along with the car! It would make a perfect little caravan, me thinks - just wondering whether you'd need stabilisers like caravans have and if they could be fitted to the body, or the trailer. good luck with your search - don't forget to post back here! JayJay:) ps lots of trailers on ebay too! ETA: Thinking about this more - the trailer would need to be high in order to incorporate the step where the cooker and sink are at the end... and that bit would have to hang off the back of the trailer so you could get in and out - would it be stable enough?
