Hi All
We are hoping to go away next week for a week or so and aiming for Northumberland. Know nothing about the area. Can anyone recommend a CL or CS in a nice spot.
Like simplicity and nice views, peace and quiet and animals etc. If poss within few minutes walking distance of village with nice place to eat.
Need loo and if poss shower.
Thanks

Not a CL or CS, but C&CC Beadnell Bay is really nice - no EHU or hard standing, but has showers and toilets. The buildings are old but very clean as Club sites usually are. The site is just across the road from the beach and sand dunes and you can walk into the village in a few minutes.
It is a really lovely area with lots of quaint harbours and old castles.

Thank you Wendy, will give it a try. Just hope it is not too busy up there. Sounds nice and I am not keen on hardstandings at all, prefer grass sites.

I don't think that it is ever really busy in Northumberland, even in August. It is still one of the country's 'undiscovered' places. Let's keep it that way as it is a fabulous area.

I stayed at Dunstan Hill C&C C site last year and was able to walk to Embleton beach in the mornings from the site. It took about 15 mins. Beautiful beaches as you say mostly with very few people. The journey is very long and pretty boring though. The highlight of the holiday for me was a boat trip out to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and terns - in fact I loved it so much that I went out for a second time!
Very envious Lizzie

Hi We'v e just come back from Northhumberland & the Lake district weather was mixed had the 2 weeks 14th- 28th first week in Nhumb. stopped at Dunston Hill as was mentioned good site if you have a bus pas ideal for Newcastle went too Alnwick gardens worth a visit Craister kippers worth buying had a drive too Berwick via coast road rained all the way Seahouses have barriers & at Berwick could only find one public loo 20p thats at the carpark. Also stopped at Bellingham good site drove through the forest drive never again just like a ploughed field £3 toll good job it was a honesty box Kielder lake is good for a walk parking £3 but one parking area at the S end is free but the other charges do cover all parking.
We would liked to have had longer but being that i had booke all my sites I had too move on never mind may give it another go next year.
Our best weather was at Keswick but then on the way over too Boroughbridge it changed & didn't warm up again until we started moving S back home.
So enjoy yourselves in Nhumb. our next one's down west in Aug-Sept
Cheers Pete

Thanks Pete
We are off in a an hour or so. Have not booked anything yet but are aiming for Boroughbridge as a half wayish stop. Will ring them after 9 to see if we can stay. Then off to Northumberland and have a list of suitable sites.
I have my little netbook so will be able to check out sites to move on and tour around. would like to travel back via Durham and Visit Beamish.
Not sure when we are coming back but have kept my diary free for 4 weeks so we'll see how it goes.
