Hello. We are soon to collect a Romahome Outlook and it will be our first motorhome. We have a greyhound and wondered how other dog owners managed to drive keeping their dogs and themselves safe whilst on the move. Jackie

Hi Jackie
Welcome to the forum, congratulations on the imminent arrival of your "new baby" I hope you enjoy it.
We haven't got a dog so I can't help you but I sure someone will be along soon who can.

Hi Jackie, we had a Duo Hylo up to last year and also have a dog. When we started with the Hylo in 2004 we had an old border collie so decided to put in a dog guard. I couldn't buy what I wanted but managed to adapt one. This was OK but needed to be taken out when using the van for sleeping. Old dog passed on (Shula, still miss her), and three weeks later a seven week border collie pup arrived, our Meg. I decided to get her used to a dog harness for the car to avoid the need for dog guards. I put a fitting into the floor of the Hylo for the dog harness and she traveled between the bench seats. I can let you have more details of either the dog guard or the harness fixing if you wish.
Have fun with your new toy.
Derek

we have a cage that fitted perfectly between the bench seats in our old demountable, it fit equally perfectly just inside the door of our new motorhome ( not a romahome), BUT our dog is a little lhasa apso!!!!!

Morning. thanks for your help so far. I am very excited as tomorrow we are going to take Katy our greyhound to do a try out in the R20 now named Pixy ( named because we live in Cornwall and its a cute little motorhome). Will discuss the idea of anchor points being fitted on the van whilst its having the reversing sensors done. Love this forum, arn't people friendly and helpful.

I fitted a handrail + extension lead to the front of my mark 1 demountable romahome and fasten the dog harness to it. Not the usual method, but would help if I had to do an emergency stop. Most of the time my dog just sleeps, so I put the top half of the bed up and she just makes herself comfortable! then I click in the harness when she's settled down. Jayjay
