Hi, Ant - I've just bought a Kampa 1500w oscillating ceramic heater which cools and runs at 750w and 1500w.
The fire works at home.
My Romahome kettle runs off the 13amp socket in the van. The fire won't.
I've tried running an extension lead off the van socket. The kettle works when attached to that but again, the fire won't work, either with or without the kettle.
Any bright ideas as to what the problem is, please ? How do I rectify it eg if it needs a new socket, can this be fitted by a bood DIYer ?
Many thanks - Carole

Carol - does the fire not have a "knockover" switch underneath that cuts the power off if it gets knocked over - most do.
If so, maybe your carpets are not allowing the switch to make, hence no heat - try standing the heater on a board or hard surface.

Hi Carole. I think Mike is probably right, but some heater also have a device inside that requires an earth connection, if your socket isn't earthed the heater may not work. Thanks Ant

Interesting. Thank you, I will try that, Mike. It certainly has a power cut off.
The socket is a three hole, Ant, and fitted by Romahome so I have to assume it is earther !
I will let you know.
Thanks - Carole

Mike - you were 100% spot on - thank you. ;D It never occurred to me to look underneath. Towsure hadn't a clue either.
A great help - especially as I take my two grandsons to the Isle of Wight this week and it's all set to rain ......

Well done, Carole - that's one of your list of probs solved!!
I also discovered this problem when we had our Hylo - we tended to use the heater in the awning - and needed to stand it on the breadboard to make it work!!

That's exactly my plan, Mike ..... Here I come Isle of Wight - & (rude word) down with rain - so fire might well get used.
