I am planning to venture into the motor home world. I fancy that I want a life style choice, so want an all singing all dancing vehicle that will be my only one. My all singing all dancing criteria include: ...good mpg ...private toilet (the hylo has a curtain I am told) ...get into most car parks ...standing room ...comfortable for aging parents ...can take 4 passengers, but only needs to sleep two comfortably ...ideally with a sun roof that opens...(am I asking too much?) ...not too many right angles...I like curves ...I prefer wood effect to plastic effect
I am aware i have no access to a garage and am a bit worried that my eventual buy may be a target. Any tips here?
My research has taken me to the Duo Hylo or a rising roof campervan conversion (pref with pullman seats). I have about £24000 to play with. I am guessing it would be wise to buy nearly new so as to save VAT, but then I could trade in my S reg Peogeot estate against a new one.
Looking forward to your advices...
Bethie

Hi Bethie Welcome to the forum, its a bit quiet at the moment everyone must be out in their vans. Have you thought of a Romahome Dimension? Four forward facing seats with belts. Separate toilet room and shower. Four gas rings and an oven. Plenty of standing room. 35 mpg Fits in a normal parking space. Can take four passengers and sleep two very comfortably, large double or two single beds. Large Heiki sunroof that opens. Lots of storage space, with eye level cupboards all round the interior, a underseat safe and underfloor storage plus a large luton area above the cab for extra storage. Bedding, chairs etc. Slide out wardrobe. You could get a nice secondhand one for around £24,000. See here for information about Dimensions. Graham

Thankyou Graham,
I tell myself I want something that gets into a multistoreys, so that means limiting the height of any motor home to 2m. However, restricting myself for an occassional affair may be a disappointment in the end. I guess I also like the look of a lifting up roof, and the seeming flexibility that then gives you. I like the idea of the 'foot print' being no more than a car, I loving the off the beaten track roads of the NW Highlands, so want to be able to have not too much length to turn with.
I do like the sound of your dimensions, and will look at it when I visit the Roamhome centre in Southampton, hopefully next week. It is my impression that the Romahome range have more of an eye for design than alot of the other makes...it is to be a temporary home after all.
Thanks,
Warm wishes,
Liz

Hi Bethie, A romahome is great for two, but squashed for more. £24K is more than enough to get something good second hand. Ealderly P`s may find getting in and out of a roma tricky, I suggest something a little bigger, look at the nu-venture range. good luck and happy camping
