Hello Ant, Our beloved outlook has only one problem, the sink will not drain into the waste tank, I removed the sink and replaced the sinktrap with a new one with a wider outlet but still no good .have tried feeding a curtain wire down it but cannot reach the waste tank. there seems to be no way to access the tank without using a garage car lift or an inspection pit. Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

Hi Ian. The drain pipe has to go over the gas locker before heading down to the tank, this means the fall is fairly minimal for the first 18 inches, in fact sometimes the pipe rises slightly which makes draining a small amount of water almost impossible. If you look under the seat box next to the fridge there is a trim panel fitted under the window, remove it and you will see the drain pipe heading through the floor. It may have a kink in it as it turns the corner, in which case you can release a clip from out side( where it appears through the floor) and pull the pipe through. By doing that you'll improve the kink and maximise the drop from the sink. Normally that's enough to get you bonding with the vehicle again! Ant

I have a 1999 Duo and have put a lot of time into 'fine-tuning' the sink drain flow, and I am surprised to be reading that the problem still exists the later model. Whilst I did achieve a slight improvement, I still find that the only way to make the waste flow away quickly and disappear fully down the plug-hole is to make sure that the van is at least dead level and preferably slightly sloping downwards towards the front nearside of the vehicle. (I sleep with my head at the sink end so the slight slope does not create a problem).
During my 'investigations' I found that the shape of the outside moulding of the Duo (ie the large 'fluting' along the outside thus forming a large ridge on the inside - into the cavity) was not allowing the drainage pipe to take it's natural course. The pipe was then forced downwards considerably to meet the inlet joint into the side of the tank forming a 'bow' shape (it could not rest on the top of the gas locker). To improve this I blocked the original inlet and fitted a new plastic elbow joint (the type found on a WC overflow) onto the top of the tank. The improvement was only slight compared with the work involved, but as the original inlet only had a very narrow hole (approx 10mm diam) I felt I had prevented a possible blockage in the future. All that's probably not made any sense but I needed some typing practice.

thankyou all for so much help, the information about the air vent, was brilliant, as this is not mentioned in the manual, neither was the inspection panel. Many many thanks. Ian
