:Hi, is there anywhere in the west of Scotland where we can Romahome together, I love the outdoor life and BBQ'ing and all the gatherings seem to be in England and there doesn't seem to be a lot of our wee vans in Scotland I would love to meet like minded peeps if there were some where round about here.

Hi Prue I'm up for a Scottish meet.
Although its a long way for a weekend for some.
The nearest 'border' to me is about 260 miles so I would incorporate the meet into "another" holiday.

We hope to be in Scotland in September - not planned any itinerary yet, but hoping to visit Islay and Jura so will be in the west for some of the time.
Will keep an eye on this thread.

... and after all I said about it being too far and too much for me - I'm planning ahead for next year, hoping to make it to Kintyre, via Arran using the CalMac ferries! This will involve several overnighters on the way and the way back but not impossible, and far easier than the trip to the Outer Hebredes I did last year! ;D ;D ;D Here's the place I'm hoping to stay in Kintyre: www.muasdaleholidays.com/ and I am thinking of spending a few days on Arran as well, but don't know of any campsites there as yet. Whiting Bay looks nice! Better start saving! www.calmac.co.uk/hopscotch_route5

Hi JayJay We've just made some bookings to do this trip in September, including 2 sites on Arran - one in the south, Seal Shore, and one in the north, Lochranza. Will report back. The one you've found in Kintyre looks good. We went for the CC AS at Carradale Bay but only because we tend to look for Club sites first. Muasdale is less expensive and handy for Gigha - we're hoping to spend a day there too. Good luck with your planning! Hi Barbara! Lochranza is a lovely place - there's a ruined castle and lovely inlet/harbour there. I visited the castle and there were deer running about! They didn't seem too frightened of people, so perhaps they're semi-tame! I didn't camp there, just used the island to get home (island hopping!) so I can't tell you about the campsite.
Gigha is also beautiful - white sands and clear, clear sea - one little tiny post office-cum-shop and one road!
