hello - fridge again ! i have an electrolux two way fridge works ok on 12 v was ok on gas but now turn gas on press to ignite on number 3 , sometimes sparks , sometimes not . try number 1 , same problem . smell plenty of gas coming through so give up and try again later - no joy . some times the sparking is not sparking or is very slow . have given fridge a bang in van and outside , tried again after a long run - still wont ignite . could this be a flame failure device problem ? still under warrenty which covers this . van is 1993 a/s rimini . any clues out there ? beetle .

Hi Beetle. It sounds like the fridge sparker unit is dying, you could try blowing some hot air with a hair dryer at the sparker box, ( sometime the damp stops them working) but I would get it changed as it'll stop altogether soon by the sounds of it. Ant

hi ant - tried the hair dryer and it ignited then later no joy so its unreliable . my warranty says condenser, gas control valve, flame failure device,12&230v heater elements, gas thermostat and 230v thermostat,230v temp control switch is covered .no sparker box mentioned or is there another name for it? can you enlighten me so i know if its covered and if not then i can ask around for a price etc .thanks for your help . beetle

Hi Beetle. The proper name for the sparker is "Electronic Ignitor", If you have a warranty I would argue that without the sparker the fridge is useless and see what happens. It's quite expensive to buy ( over £70 now I think). Ant

:)hi ant pleased to report that my fridge igniter has now been replaced under warranty by a local caravan mechanic. thankyou for pointing me in the right direction as my supplier had been less than helpful and i did not understand what was wrong . it was worth trying to get advice which gave me the courage to pursue the issue . a grateful " beetle "

Hi Glad you got it fixed. Ant gave me good advice on fixing my fridge. I got the igniter from USA. Cheaper than England with post. the company details etc. are in the description of my efforts. jawjaw.
