I have read many complaints on various forums about poor service from motorhome dealers but we seem to be fortunate in that respect. We have the ever helpful Ant for example and I have been impressed with the attitude of Morans in Ludlow from whom I bought my Dimension2.
Yesterday, I took the van back because of a couple of minor problems. The fly screen on the nearside window wasn't seated properly and the blinds on the windscreen would not fit round the rearview mirror stalk. Morans is a family firm and Scott, the son of the outfit, quickly sorted out the flyscreen problem. But the front blinds were more difficult. The cutout sections which were intended to neatly encompass the stalk were too low and no fiddling could fix this problem. On examing another Dimension they had on the forecourt, it was obviously a problem that Romahome had subsequently identified because on that van, the screen was fitted a couple of inches higher (which also improved the driver's view). Either that or mine was just put together wrongly. Either way, it looked like a time-consuming job - I even wondered if it would have to go back to Romahome.
Not so. Scott set to work, removed the storage rack that goes across the top of the screen, took it to the bench and gave it a severe modification with a hacksaw, relocated the blind's rails and then put the whole thing back together. Job done in a couple of hours. No need to send the van way or to make an appointment and come back another time - it was all sorted there and then and a very neat job he made of it.
There was a bonus in that while I was sitting in the sun waiting, being fed coffeee, I was able to chat to a couple of other van owners. There was a couple with a Romahome Duo that popped in to have their van's Leisure battery checked. They were very enthusiastic campers, loved their Romahome ("we usually camp wild") and were a pleasure to meet (I wonder if they visit here?). I also met a chap who had just spent 2 months in an Autosleeper Duetto in the Hebrides which sounds like a fantastic destination.
So a very positive experience in many ways and thanks to Morans for a good attitude and good service.
