I have a 1989 HiLO with a compressor assisted roof lift The compressor failed and a previous owner has attached a tyre pump type compressor 1 . THe system pressurises Ok though it takes ages but then only the back lifts not the front. What is likely to be the problem 2. Where can I obtain a proper replacement compressor instead of the cheap plastic thing I am now using. Original is a M48 x25I motor with an ASF Thomas pump 8039
I can raise the roof manually but its extremely difficult Grateful for any assistance

Hi Barrott. So long as the compressor pressurises its done its job, the problem may be with the valves that control the 4 rams, they are controlled by relays and reset buttons. If you look behind the panel in the seat locker where the compressor is you'll see all the gubbins relating to the roof mechanism. Drain the air out, reset all the valves and re-pressurise hopefully the valves all behave themselves. The system was a bit tetchy when it was new, be sure to have plenty of pressure before tying it out, if you don't the valves will trip out again when the roof tips or trys to lift unevenly. Ant

Thanks > I have now fixed it by liberally spraying lubricant around the roof join from both bottom and inside top and Never could find the valve reset buttons though. I doubt if I have them. Bert Barrott
