Just phoned to cancel my insurance on Daisy and guess what? No refund. I only renewed in August, but because it's a 'special' or 'classic' policy, no refund, either in part or whole. GRRRRRR.... The insurance certificate says to contact their offices or write with compaints... its from Trinity Lane, a Private Vehicle policy. Obtained from Adrian Flux, who didn't point out that it was non-refundable and said to go and read the small print!! Which I have... it says in the policy document book under cancellation by you that: if the policy is a limited mileage policy (it is): Two months 60% refundable.... but Adrian Flux say not. Hmmmnnnn. Edited to add, complaints direct to Trinity Lane have to be sent to.... MALTA.

Bad enough parting with Daisy, that is a real stitch up. My insurance company gives proportional refunds minus admin fee. Another phone call on Monday perhaps and ask to speak to the engineer and not the oil rag.

Hi Derek, yep, that's the very one I have - which I have quoted to them. I haven't received a reply as yet. Will let you know when I do.... watch this space! The words 'Insurance Ombudsman' and 'National newspapers' and 'Watchdog' spring to mind. I know it wasn't an awful lot of money, it's the principle of it really. And it's my money! I'm wondering if that's their stock answer to everyone, just in case they can get away with it. I only renewed the policy mid August!

Good for you JayJay, fight them all the way, I look forward to seeing Ann Robinson fighting your case on Watchdog.
I'm sure it won't get that far, once they see you aren't taking it lying down they'll probably cough up.

Well, after pointing it out, here's the reply, received this am: We acknowledge receipt of your recent email and would be obliged if you could note our comments below. We apologise for the error made during our telephone conversation. This is not a ‘no refund’ policy. Should the policy be cancelled before 18/10/09, there would be a refund due to you of £32.84. This is after taking into account our commission and administration fee. We trust the above is clear to yourself and should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.They're still the winners! Policy cost £117 approx: admin fee £25 60% refund = approx £60 - less another admin fee, less more commission... whoop-de-doop, better not spend it all at once, eh? I still wonder if I'd left it at that 1st phone call and not questioned it, whether they would have owned up!
