Here's the before shot - with rusty old wheels.... and here's the 'after' shot with the new trims! ;D I had to buy valve extensions - didn't even know they existed until yesterday! And here's the next prob (sorry I meant 'challenge') - look closer - that's the battery sticking out and all exposed! which explains why it stalled when the person driving it home for me (who shall remain nameless) drove through a great puddle to splash somebody on the pavement. According to the haynes manual, it should have a metal case around it. Edited to add: Cor, it doesn't half look rusty now - those wheel trims make everything else look worse!! (have also bought some rust treatment stuff, sandpaper and touch-up paint but it's a month of sundays job!

Hi Jay Jay
Your van is looking posh with its new wheel trims but what a strange place for the battery, I've not come across that before, as you say you would imagine it ought to have some kind of cover.

OOOh I hate bodywork, Martin! It makes my teeth ache using sandpaper! Might use a dremal (sp?) Like I said, it's going to take me a month of Sundays to get it all done, but it will look nice in the end!! It is a peculiar plcae to put the engine battery isn't it, Graham? Should have either a metal cover or a rubber one, but where to get one from??? LOL. Always something!

Here's another thing I was worrying about - what if I need a jump start? It looks to me like I might have to take off the side panel to get to the battery! Which, by the way, is sitting on a very rusty piece of metal (what's left of the box it's meant to be housed in, I think) and held in place by bungee straps!! Wish I hadn't looked closer now... Note to self: buy a spanner and socket set...
