On my way from Cornwall to Dover to catch the ferry back to France, I stopped by Bristol to visit with Ant, hoping he might be able to resolve some my last Romahome problems. Ant was as helpful in person as he always is on the forum. He completely rebuilt the diesel filler system and not a drop has leaked from it yet. There is still a smell problem, but at least I know it is not coming from the filler cap any more. I'm hoping it is residual spilt fuel that is coming out of nooks and crannies, but I think I'm being optimistic. The really big surprise was the headlight. I had one that was full of water. It would have made a great fishbowl. The Citroen dealer didn't have any, so I figured I would wait and get one in France. I wasn't even going to ask, but as we chatted after the other work was done, it came up. "I've got some of those!", Ant exclaimed as he rushed off to the back shed and returned with a LHD 1991 C15D original left side headlamp, complete and ready to install. He'd salvaged them from some LHD Romahome's he had converted to GB standard. I was impressed. He not only had them, he could find them in minutes. Thanks Ant, you are an asset to the forum and the Romahome community. - Peter (now wild camping in the rain near Annecy) For those who haven't met him, Ant at work.

Ant was as helpful in person as he always is on the forum. I will second that, I would be happy to recommend Ant and Avon Motors to anyone, we just wish he was a bit nearer. Graham

Thanks everybody for your kind words, although i'm not sure what all the fuss is about, it is after all what i do for a living, a bit of help on the phone costs nothing and may in time lead to either a job or a sale or even a recommendation so i don't think i do so badly! Yes Mike I'll be on holiday at the NEC next month recharging my batteries! Ant

But Ant, not everyone is as so willingly helpful as you are, there are some really nice people out there, and some real b...g..rs so it is nice to be able to say thank you to those that are consistently helpful and pleasant, I am sure that you really enjoy your work, because it really shows, manners cost nothing as my nan use to say, so we here on SMH are following her wisdom.

It's now my turn to add to the Ant appreciation thread. Cynthia and I were in Bristol the past two days to visit my eldest daughter, who is heavily pregnant with twins. We did an overnighter at Baltic Wharf, and what a great site that is! In addition to camping we took the opportunity to go into Avon Motor Caravans and first of all buy a Quick and Easy awning, which proved really useful, and great for short stay camping such as we were doing. Today, we returned to Avon for Ant to change the dreaded Lunken gas pipes for copper. This he did, and more too, for he discovered something I hadn't known about in the slightly more than a year for which we have owned The Baby - that the fridge, and I quote Ant, was 'free range'! In other words it wasn't anchored down in any way other than by gravity - ouch! Anyway, Ant sorted that whiilst we were swanning over to IKEA and back to by daughter's place in the very nice 1.6 HDi powered Berlingo that Avon loans out to those who leave their van with him for servicing. Thanks Ant for the work you did. We really appreciate it and the reasonable bill you presented afterwards. We'll be back for more sometime. Mike J

Thanks Mike. That very nice 1.6 Hdi Berlingo will now slowly work its way up your wants list and before you know it there's one with a Romahome body attached to it parked outside the house! Ant

I think you just could be right about the Berlingo Ant. Don't know how you cope with all your fan mail! Mike J

I just pulled it out when I was having a go at fixing it, then shoved it back in!

The fixing screws are underneath, or should be ;D

Jayjay, your fridge should have "L" shaped brackets that come from under the cooker and fix to the top of the fridge, or two long aluminium angle stips down each side outside depending on age of unit. Only the larger 60 litre fridges fitted to Berlingos have the plastic covered screw holes inside. Most C15's have the "L" shaped brackets under the fridge upto about late 1995 then they had to change the fixing method when they fitted the new moulding and recessed the cooker to two small brackets that fit to the top front of the fridge. If your fridge is "free range" thats not good, its only good for chickens to be "free range" ! Ant
