Good afternoon. As you can see I am new on here and I make mistakes sometimes on the computer so forgive me. I would like to ask your opinion. We are no spring chickens me and hubby and are looking to purchase a small motorhome, mainly because we can't drive a largish model. Anyway the reason I call in is because a Romahome outlook is on the cards 54 reg with 16,000 on the clock, it is being offered to us for £18,995 although a bit over budget for us, is it an offer we should not refuse, he who hesitates is lost but we don't want to rush in to it and buy on impulse. I would really appreciate any reply within the next half hour as I am supposed to call back and put a holding fee on it if we want to lok before anyone else.
Many thanks jess

Hi Jess, welcome to the forum.
The van sounds a reasonable price and lowish mileage, are you buying it from a dealer? If you are then at least you will have some comeback and hopefully a warranty if anything is amiss, its a lot of money to part with on a private deal.
Have you got someone who knows a bit about engines etc., who could have a look at it?
As regards using the Romahome itself lots of people have them and love them. It's very much like driving a car and its great fun camping in them.
Not sure whether that will help with decision but presumably if you are putting a holding deposit on it then you can have a look and get your money back if you are not happy, so why not just have a look then decide.
Best of luck
Graham

thank you for your reply. Yes it is from Romahomes themselves and having a debate with my other half have decided we shall have a look, they seem to offer a very good deal and aftercare, the customer service we received from them in person three weeks ago was tip top and the gent didn't mind answering our questions every time he walked past us whilst we wandered around looking. So thank you for your feedback.

Hi Jess Are you trading anything in? If not you might be able to negotiate a lower price There is normally leeway for offering a generous trade in. Derek

Take a wedge of notes with you - and offer them £17k cash for it - it IS Autumn, after all - and I bet punters are no longer streaming through the door!!
You inner self should tell you if it's the right vehicle for you - any doubts, walk away from it.
Also, leave a contact number with them if they refuse your offer - don't be swayed on how much you are willing to pay - sounds like top book price to me.

hello mike, well, it's a bit short notice for cash at my bank, and anyway they never want to give you your own money without half a dozen proof of identities!! we shall certainly do our best to knock them down, I don't like pressure it makes me walk the other way, I know I am going to get 'well, what do you think?' question after the trial run from the other half before we attempt to make our way home. Why me eh? I'll let you know the outcome tomorrow when we return.

Now we are looking forward to lots of weekends away, I'm a little excited ;D Congratulations Jessie, I'm sure you won't regret it, its great when you buy a new van, bet you can't wait to get started. A lot of people can't wait to go to a campsite and sleep on their drive to try it out. Graham

well mike, we didn't get much discount but it was in good condition, just a couple of things that need sorting, nothing major. Yes Graham, funny you should say that, my hubby said shall we drive half a mile up the road and camp overnight on the heath ;D Now we have to start again getting all the little bits together to make it cosy and workable. We got rid of a lot of very handy bits when we gave up the canvas camping but I did keep the kettle. ;D But I am looking forward to doing the womans stuff like 'shopping' for the storage bits etc and taking a lot of hints/advice from what is on the threads.
