So, as the NEC show draws to an end I just wondered what was the highlight of your visit? Mine was getting a free blue Saga bag - how sad is that?

Oh Pauline
Mine was getting there without getting lost! We travelled up from the New Forest using only A/B roads and stopped at Woodhenge for lunch. Beautiful journey through the Cotswolds and a camping stay at Yew Tree Farm in Far Forest, dinner with friends in The Plough next door, a good sleep and off to NEC next day.
Regards highlights of the show it has to be visiting the huge black van next to the Romahome stand, made me realise just how lucky I am to have no need for a load of luxury interior accessories to make my camping expeditions so happy !

The highlight of my day was winning the "Play your cards right" quiz. If you have seen it on the TV you will know what I mean, basically you have five large playing cards one is turned over to start and you have to guess if the next one will be higher or lower. If you guess right you move on to the next card if you guess wrong you lose. I guessed right on all of them and won........................wait for it......................a multi purpose tool. Whooo Hooo! Its a bit like a swiss army knife with lots of different tools attached including pliers, screw driver with lots of different heads, knife, file, bottle opener, tool for getting stones out of horses hoofs (very useful) and multi head spanner, all in a handy little carrying pouch. All I had to do was give them my name address, telephone number and email address, so I expect I can look forward to lots of nuisance phone calls, junk mail and junk email. ;D Graham

Having just returned from the NEC I thought back to the first caravan show I went to at Earls Court **** years ago. The few motorcaravans were huddled into a tiny space away from the gleaming acres of caravans. At the NEC there were acres of motorhomes and talk of the last few caravan only manufacturers having to go into motorhome production because that was the comming market. Allied to that was the rise in van conversions compared with a few years ago and the ingenuity of the van conversions rather than the 'chuck in a bigger fridge, and glass washing bowl prize winning bathrooms' of many of the coachbuilts and A class vans. By the number of people at the show, compared with last year, the caravan and motorhome holiday is increasingly popular which will have a knock on effect on the pressure to book sites as opposed to just turning up, unless the number of sites can be increased quickly or we start using more CL's even without hook up.
Just a few random thoughts, feel free to jump in. Colin

Mine was getting a free blue Saga bag - how sad is that? I got one of those bags a few years ago and it is very useful as it is just the right size for the single electric hob to stop it rattling when in the cupboard.

You should have just pointed out that you're a campervanner - obviously of no fixed abode! Then take you're free multitool and walk away smirking.

Yes, the trouble was I had to fill a form with all the necessary information before I could play the game. I suppose I could have put a wrong name and address but they probably won't be able to read my scrawl anyway. Graham
