All set to bid (but not much higher than the starting price1) on a little Kip Kompakt caravan and there was a message saying DONT BID, followed by explanation that the owners had had an accident in it coming home from their very last journey yesterday. I sent a message to say how sorry I was... They sent a reply saying that they had been coming down a hill and the car behind them ran straight into the back of the van as their brakes failed. Isn't that awful! So the search goes on, so if anyone sees a Kip caravan for sale, let me know. Not many about, so as long as it's in the Uk.... ;D

Hi Glen, thanks for looking for me!
I don't know if this number will work now, as the auction has ended, but this is exactly what I'm looking for! 170393369926
It's a dutch Kip Kompakt... there are several other models as well. Apparantly every other van on sites in France and Germany, etc is a Kip.
Been trying to post a pic, but can't! I'm not going to go for a car conversion (love them, esp. The kangoos and couriers) because of my back probs, one of the reasons I sold my wee Daisy, can't do with crouching.
I also like the microlite caravans (I went to the sales rooms in Stafford to view new and second user ones), except they seem to have crammed too much into a very small space and they seem claustrphobic to me. Might buy one of those though... but I would much rather have a Kip.
The Kips dont have a bathroom/loo, but do have two beds (or make a double) fridge, ehu, cooker sink and wardrobe/storage. Which is all I need. You can stand up all the way thru them, and they are very light at 450 max weight.
I went to see a different one not long ago, the chap wanted £800 for it and it needed completely gutting and refitting, inside and out, so I walked away... I wouldn't have kept chickens in it!
I sound like a sales person! LOL! After looking and looking, I just know the little Kip is the one I want. However, there doesn't seem to be another one in the whole country at the moment! LOL!
I'm not in any rush, as I wouldn't be camping until next year anyway, but the prices will go up in the spring, so that's why I'm on the lookout now!
So if you see any let me know!

I've found a lovely little esterelle pop top caravan and could buy it... except it's 250 miles away! Even if I had a towbar put on my car I think a 500 mile journey (camp on the way home??) is a bit of a baptism by fire when I don't know the first thing about towing yet! LOL!
Does anyone know of a firm who would tow it here for me from Broadstairs in Kent? (to south cheshire, nr. junction 16 of M6).

If you found one I bet it would be really expensive, have you thought about asking the people selling it to deliver and offering them more money to cover the cost. If they are desparate to sell they might do it. Graham

Jayjay,
if you type caravan collection into ebay, there are quite a few people offering that type of service. maybe worth asking a few of them for a quote??
