Ok all you folk who have cars and light vans that you have adapted for camping, this forum is especially for you, I won't take the credit as it was Derek's idea, so lets hear all about your campers.

I started with a basic Renault Kangoo van - I need to be able to carry bulky items (ie 6 hay bales) but also have a vehicle I can live in for the occasional wild-camping week away so the van was adapted: My Kangoo van 'conversion': With the bed assembled: The sink (plastic bowl fitted into ply recess) has a manual pumped tap connected to a jerrican and the cupboard beneath houses a porta-potti. The cupboards on the left make up the bed - the top cupboard lifts off and a sheet of ply topped with either an airbed or cushions (from an old IKEA chair!). My husband also liked this idea. He needs a car for work so designed a fold-away bed arrangement which he can add for camping trips away - much more practical than a soggy tent in the Great British summers! Husband's Kangoo car adaptation - a framed, removable bed fits over the folded-down rear seat and provides storage underneath: Measuring up: A simple idea - a series of frames with a plywood top forming the bed: Stowed away while travelling: I enjoyed my van-camping and 3 years ago found my 'dream' vehicle which I'd had my eye on for 10 years - a Renault Kangoo Roo. It means at the moment that I'm running 2 vehicles but I haven't found a way around this yet because insurers won't allow business use AND carriage of goods on a camper policy - so I'm still looking and then will sell the van run just the Roo with a trailer to carry the hay bales. My pride and joy - my Renault Kangoo Roo:
