Hi. a lone camper here. It has to said that I have never camped wild - on my own. I prefer the relative safety of a camp site!
However, the further north you go, the safer it is... And there are a few good sites for wilding just over the border in Dumfries & Galloway!
The Hebredian Isles are geared up for wild campers, the council there has a 'wild camping' site at Horgebost Beach (several more dotted about as well) - complete with showers, hot water, sinks loos, waste disposal, etc... All they ask if for a donation towards the upkeep of the place now I believe. When we went there last year there wasn't even a donation required!
